As a Monster Hunter enjoyer since freedom on the psp, I'd recommend being patient, every mh tends to have a new thing to it that is polarizing, swimming, clutch claw, wirebugs, being a literal palico as prowler. So it's always fun to see what they cook up!

Highly disagree with the Rise system of them just being on the map being better. It just feels like monster fighter. You’re not hunting for anything. And the time you would have spent looking for them in older games, (which was fast if you knew the monsters well enough) was replaced with gathering spiribirds instead which is just awful.

I think world is the only time where you actually look for the monster. In rise, its already listed. In older games you just memorized which area it spawns in after the first hunt lmao.

We've never been hunting for monsters. We just run around the map until we happen to be in the same area as them. Then we paintball and it's basically the same system as Rise. The scoutflies before they get upgraded is probably the best version of tracking that we've gotten.

An important thing to remember is that Wilds is going to be a mainline entry (MH 6). Generations and Wilds were both portable entries - that's where they put the 'experimental' stuff, and also streamline the game. To predict what Wilds will be, look at 4U and World (3U and 4U are mainline games, even though they were on portable systems).

The Tonfa, Magnet Spike or Accel Axe could be great additions to Wilds. And personally I prefer the guns over the Bow. Lance is that good and I consider Gunlance. Not to good with Long Sword if I'm being honest. Tracking I'm sure varies for most players. So long as the paintballs don't come back. And the Spiribirds felt were a good way to go around the area and buff up all your stats, but see why it's widely hated. Maybe something remotely similar to Scoutflies. The hunts can be hit or miss depending on monsters or generations. Even giving new monsters of lesser represented monster classes.

nah man, the longsword counter disease didn't start with foresight, I'm pretty sure it started in Generations with Critical Juncture art, then followed up with the Valor counter as a standard move instead of an art. And moreover not just longsword, the Adept style concept in general in itself is a soft counter system for all weapons, and for dual blades it was especially broken giving you like up to 2-3 full seconds of complete invulnerability on a timed dodge if demon mode was active. Still one of my favorite games though. As for wishlist, I have 2 items: 1. PALAMUTES BACK! GIMME DOG 2. plot revolving around a massive environment-scale turf war between 2 elder dragons. Just like how Rise brought Ibushi and Narwa as an elder dragon couple, doing a uno reverse and instead of fighting 2 elders teaming up on us, we fight 2 elders actively fighting each other at the same time while we're just trying to stop them from constantly messing the environment up while vying for control.

I've been thinking what a good ranged weapon would be, and its difficult since projectiles as a concept don't have a lot of variety/combo options, but a blade on a chain could be a good mid-range weapon. Like Kratos dual blades that can turn into chain blades, but maybe just one to not encroache on dual blade territory too much. Different monster versions of the weapon could even turn into huge morning stars or similar things. Also wanted to say i randomly discovered this channel and I love the monster hunter discussion, keep it up!

I was thinking of a DB that can turn into a Darth Maul-like double-bladed sword. A la swaxe. That chain idea would let you throw it to the monster's face, too? Anyway, both should have more far-reaching attacks to make up for DBs shortcomings. Pun intended. 😅

This is why I like the 2 teams, most of what you've stated in the video I dislike, but I can be (mostly) assured that styles/arts will be out of Wilds and that it'll have greater focus on "Hunting" rather than it being mostly an arcady arena fighter (thankfuly for me). Then we'll get another game from the X/Rise team with the hyper gimmicks back to make everyone happy, in cycles. One thing though, 3:38 bringing styles/arts inherently makes the game counter-focused, as the power level of the Hunter drastically increases, so do the monters, and most kinds of "fair" gameplay vanish as a result. Normal blocking, subtle evading, finding opening windows rather than creating them, etc. are too fair in a world of super-powered Hunter moves & utility. Monsters are made to nearly 1hit KO you, have to move faster to keep with you, attack in wider sweeps or cast huge AoEs to get a chance at damaging the hunter. Weapons get homogenized too, since every single one NEEDS a counter (or the very few that don't yet have that option, new gigantic dodge moves and/or i-frame bonanzas) It's a vicious power creep cycle, akin to Standard MTG gameplay VS competitive YuGiOh - the latter is more flashy and explosive and wacky, but in the end it means most games end in 2 turns and the majority of interactions between players are either 1turn-KO's or super hard counters, whereas in standard MTG there's more subtle non-world-ending back and forth interactions.

As a full-time HH main, while I didn't HATE the changes to HH, I would be so, so happy to see a return to World's horn. I enjoyed having to memorize multiple button patterns for each horn, and having a larger pool of choices for buffs and heals on each one. Plus it allows you to be VERY passive-aggressive when your teammates won't stand still for a second and allow you to heal or buff them before a fight. "Okay, if you don't stand TF still when you see me priming buffs before this fight like I have visibly been doing for the last 20 minutes, I'm gonna mock you the entire time after this starts. Hope you enjoy your fully-stacked ice resist buff against Lunastra you complete lemon." When the other people respect my role as a mix of buffs and DPS, I am a total beast and would take any reasonable risk to keep them all alive. But when they treat me like I'm not doing anything, I bully them into the dirt. HH mains are so few and far between, and it irritates me when people behave like we add nothing or they're too good for our help (they never are).

I think the anti-Guild story would've worked better for World. You go to an entirely new continent to get away from them. I think the extinction story would be cool, but I think Capcom has strayed away from all the human-dragon war stuff. I doubt they would go back to that. I'd be down for some Tonfas though, never played Frontier.

I'm hoping for a almost survival feel like maybe we arnt hunting because they are dangerous but because we are cut off from our fleet and are forced to scavenge and survive in the wilds while trying to reconvene with your fleet finding tracks of your party and hunting hunters following tracks back to a real base.

I think the problem with safi and such is that as the game goes on it starts to get harder and harder to get lobbies but the most fun I had in World was when there were a ton of lobbies full of people doing the siege plus I really enjoyed the fight but I get why having to go through 3 relatively slow phases isn't great. I just wish that at this point in the game the safi siede didnt rotate out like lemme get my stuff bruh

I'm your opposite, I can stand the old HH and love the new one but I can understand you because the same happened to me with post world gunlance, I will love to see the moveset selection thing of rise to come back but on steroids, choose between the old style with increased buff power and duration or the new style for a faster paced blunt weapon to get more stable dps.

Also I thought of an inverted version of the hh mechanic as another style, instead of buffing your team, you debuff the enemies around you.

I'd be ok with the scrolls going, but I enjoy base Rise switch skills. I think tracking needs a massive overhaul. Running around aimlessly isn't fun. Throwing a paintball and looking for the monster on the map isn't fun. Following the scoutflies isn't fun. Honestly the scoutflies were best before they get upgraded. I'd rather know exactly where the monster is than go back to pre-World tracking. Just because something has been in the series for a long time doesn't mean that it should continue to be a part of it.

Now I know all of us have been playing for a while at this point but they desperately need to fix tutorialization, because it is probably the one thing this series screwed up more than anything else, ever. I'm not talking about controls, or weapon combos, or any of that, I mean it just dumps everything on you from the jump, throws it at you in several paragraphs of text boxes, and then gives you more text boxes about it after you're done talking to an NPC. Buddy mechanics, menus, game specific stuff, all sorts of nonsense. For an example of how to fix it, look how they only introduce you to decorations in high rank, so you don't get overwhelmed. Maybe they could slowly show you stuff, one quest at a time? Even make the goal of those quests unlocking those systems? It would do wonders for new players, and not having to mash through a million boxes would be great for returning players. Also, I think the UI and menus are atrocious but I can live with that. Otherwise I agree with Ouro on pretty much all of this.

Yeah the tutorials are dogshit. I don't know if there is a better option than looking up stuff on KZitem though. I think having someone explain it to you will always make it easier to understand instead of an NPC. I've played enough that I'm fine, but I always feel bad for new players.

"Ranged weapons that don't suck" Do you mean...feel wise? Cuz Ranged weapons do not suck at all. They are some of the most powerful weapons in the game and once you get into a flow even feel wise they don't suck. Sure there is no heft to it but instead you feel the flow. Even the lack of combos is fine imo as the I feel like their identity is more on the flow of adjusting the fight from damage to cc and back to dmg A ranged melee weapon like the gravity spikes would be cool just...less OP I can see why one would like the extra fancy attacks from GenU and Rise buuuuut I feel like they cause the games to feel...too fast as the monsters also need to be adjusted to be able to match those attacks. And in rise that meant endless AoE spam which I absolutely hated. Also RiseBreak was too parry focused as you said Ok the Rise tracking was absolutely horrendous. The looking for the monster part for me is part of the MH identity. Sure it could get tedious but I still prefer it. The game is not a boss rush. Might as well remove maps if you constantly know where the monster is and just have arena fights. I feel like the Sieges just need to get some refinement. It is a tad annoying to only get drops after a siege ends and it sucks when another team finishes the monster but your team cannot and thus your drops are hampered a bit. RNG drops (weapons and armor) need to go. Keep it to decos and or charms. I genuinenly feel like sieges should launch with non siege versions of the mission after you complete them once. Maybe with a few less drops to incentivize the sieges. Also HARD agree on more varied monster rosters.

Tbh man, I came in to the series in october 2023. And i got addicted asap purely because of the combat. Started with and still maining the charge blade. Personally the type of weapon i would really like to see is a scythe. Always found games where the mc was using a massive scythe incredible. (yes i know LS has a scythe skin). A scythe, focussing on wide aoe attack. being able to circle a monster at incredible speed is what i would really like to see... Good video!

I enjoyed Safi & KT a lot. The RNG on KT rewards was okay-ish, I suppose, as compared to waiting for those r12 decos to drop on your 201st Teostra. Maybe more? 😂 They could add more to weapons that don't have counters or blocks. I suppose Rise did that with wirebugs, but then every weapon had it. The OP weapons became more OP.

I don't dislike the fights, I just hated the multiplayer and rewards components. It was also frustrating when Capcom made Safi solo-able and it just...wasn't. Deco farming was another nightmare, but they reverted back to charm farming with Rise so I really hope they continue that trend.

Bro longsword is nowhere near as defensive as lance in rise and maybe LS was op in base rise but in sunbreak it does require a lot of skill to use effectively. With Lance u can get guard plus 10 with embolden u can pretty much block anything that’s not impossible to block and they even give lance a wire bug move that gets them lot of i frames to jump out the way of attacks Lance is super strong in rise

I mean yes Lance gets i-frames, but the entire moveset of LS is based around countering the monster. Foresight slash, iai spirit slash, tempered spirit slash, and serene pose are all designed to eat a monster's attack and deal out tons of damage in return. I'm not saying these things don't take skill; in fact, I think that LS has one of the higher skill ceilings in the game, but my point stands. LS is one of the best defense weapons in the game because of its focus on counters.

@@OuroborosTalks and Lance also has a lot of counters that deal a lot of damage I think defensive is the wrong word as longsword does not have that many defenses besides it’s counter. if a weapons defensive than if u mess up it doesn’t matter that much. LS if u mess up your a sitting duck

The timinga for the counters are far too forgiving and i wish that wasnt the case. Really hope they move away from counters in general in wilds atleast counters that can be executed on every single attack 100%. Which i think they are with focus mode? But cant know for sure yet, still hopeful. :))

@@Jlezy lol, SnS is my favorite and most used weapon, I use mostly melee, but I do have a whole character dedicated to the bowguns and from time to time I use the bow, but I only use this character when I'm playing with my friends.

I hope they add more use to the "hunting" item like bbq spit and binocular, these item has been added since first gen, but me personally never really utilize it (I played 1-4 gen). It'd be cool if somehow they make more use to these item to make the game more about "hunting" ,like make it more immersive

LBG is a great chill weapon. I played through rise with my friends and they were relatively new to the game, so I was on support duty. Chippin away while they had fun.

Ngl I feel you on the long range weapons but at the same time I feel like weapons like bow can get really interactive once you start weaving in and out of attacks with the bow, I also agree with the sieges it kinda cool the first time but then it gets really annoying after a while, especially now that not much people play mhw it take the fun outta kulve and safi. But during those times when the mhw sessions were full it was really fun.

Final monster = Op armor with full decos is just bad. It ruins the creativity with the builds completely - every end game set is the same.

Honestly, I’d love it if HH in Wilds plays like the HH in rise/sunbreak. Hunting horn is so fun in rise!
