Hey Melissa, I'm 59 and work out daily. I play pickle ball every morning for 2 hours, I lift, do yoga and bike ride. I've been on a plan for 2 years to lose weight. It worked great and I lost 37lbs until I started working out hard again. I've stopped losing weight and started gaining. My coaches tell me I can't lose weight working out like I do. I have to choose between working out and eating less to lose I can't do both. When I'm working out and in a food deficit I'm STARVING!! Can you give me some advice please???

You can.....you just need to eat foods that aren't high in calories but high in fiber & nutrients. Potatoes, loads of Broccoli, string beans, etc. Your plant foods without the processed oils allow you to eat more & get full. I eat a lot of soup with beans as well.

This is the most important video I've watched of yours -- and you have many great videos. I think you're right, videos like this don't get a lot of views because we are all programmed to our microwave, quick-quick, me-me, now-now, instant results lifestyles. And you are right -- the only way to get to a body you feel comfortable in and a body that's healthy -- is hard work, consistently, over time. "Hard work" means being selective about what you eat, and being consistent with workouts. Thanks for the loving kick in the pants. As someone who regularly works over 50 hours a week, plus another 10 hours of community engagements having to do with my paid job, I AM limited on time BUT -- I know I will have to put in the time if I ever want to feel comfortable in my body again. I weigh 20 pounds more than I did when I felt pretty good in my body and I would love to be there again and you're right -- at almost 60, it's SO MUCH HARDER to lose weight than even 5 years ago. 5 years ago I just counted calories and kept them at 1500 for a few months and voila, I could easily lose a pound a week. Not anymore! I appreciate your advice.

Fantastic video 👏 because all of it is so true! I am struggling to see results (41, perimenopause, fibromyalgia, and the list goes on) so I do have moments where I get really frustrated, because the "quickness" of results that used to happen in my 20s and 30s isn't there, but this was a great reminder that it really is about being consistent. There's no other way around it, and you are spot on about the mindset too ❤

Thank you Melissa, you’re an inspiration, I resonate with your story somewhat. I have started my transformation slowly, slowly as I have struggled with energy levels, my HRT, and also my mindset. I knew my mind had to be worked on. As such I am starting to improve health wise, and I’m finding the time for self love and prioritising my health and fitness, a concept that from when I got married at 21 was alien to me. As such I spent years being far too lenient and people certainly took advantage, and lacked respect for me. It has taken 25 years to get my ex husband and his family out of my life for good, it was a light bulb moment. I feel free at last! your video is spot on. ❤

Great video as usual, Melissa. I think the reason videos such as this don't get much traffic is not just because of the "magic pill fallacy" but more likely because videos on exercise and nutrition offer more quantifiable steps. Also, YT is inundated with videos on self-love, motivation, mindset, etc. by gurus and professionals. Let's also not forget that the algorithm might not recommend your mindset video as much because of the RPM (revenue per mile) that it may/may not generate. That being said, I really appreciate content like this from you ❤

I have to eat in a deficit to lose weight so when I eat yogurt and berries for example do the 1 portion size on the container or less of a portion size?
