so my sister has been married to my brother in law over 47 yrs. When they met, he was 10 yrs older, had been divorced already and had a child with his ex. 1st warning sign. My sister was 19 just out of high-school. She thought she got the hard working farmer who's family owned dozens of acres of farmland in rural IA. Therefore, she would have a stable financial footing to raise her kids. No struggles. What really happened was his dad saw he couldn't manage money & made stipulations that he had NO ACCESS to the farmland till his stepmother passed. She's still alive at 90ish. Both of them jumped from job to job not caring about pensions because they thought they had farmland in IA to sell. Now neither of them have a pension he's working driving a truck in his 70s and they have basically been reduced to living in a 5th wheel. My advice is do NOT stay with someone hoping they change! Unless you don't mind being broke & penniless in your elderly years. Get out earn your OWN $ 1st , then find a real partner.

A friends husband pulled these sorts of stunts and it turned out he had a gambling addiction

My friend's husband did the same thing. She put up with it until the day that she was evicted from her house by the bank. The mortgage hadn't been paid for the best part of a year. Yes, gambling problem.

@@davidbrayshaw3529 I had a relative pass away who I thought was loaded but he had 90K worth of debt and it turned out gambling addiction. With all the online and sports betting and tv commercials, I fear this will become the new drug in our country.

Jesus Christ... He's mowing his grandparents farm with a nice $6k mower. Not mowing every lady in towns bushes. I'd run right down to Lowes tonight and buy the toro 21" for $499 and tell her mow day is Saturday. She could probably get 2 acres done in a 4 hour afternoon, at about 3mph...

Two sides to every story. Maybe he feels he has to lie to her because she will just go batshit crazy if he spends any of the money he earns.

John is way over the top sometimes . Seems like a standard Ramsey advice where Dave would explain they don’t both think they are doing the baby steps . Let’s hold hands and get on the same page and if it doesn’t stop then he’s a liar . John is like “he’s probbaly got an addiction “

It sounds like she's bringing up stuff from the past, stuff before they agreed to the Ramsey plan. Stupid stuff happens before discovering common sense, I mean, the Ramsey plan. Also, the first seven years of marriage is a learning process. Baloney's advice is to start a conversation with accusations. Pfft

He bought a $6000 lawn mower recently, that's not a learning process. That's lying about not spending money. Pfff
