It's become a bad habit of mine over the last months that I mindlessly scroll through KZitem for hours looking for something that I feel connected to, then by accident I found this video and you struck a chord in me. Took me only 1 minute to hit Like and 4 to hit subscribe. I LOVE being creative and can totally identify with your mindset and just realised what you describe is what I've been missing for so long. I gave up on trying new things or even doing what I am good at because I developed a great fear of failure. Now I feel encouraged to pick up my brushes again and dust off old projects that I never finished. Thank you so much.

Well, you’ve helped boost the motivation of this 61-year-old who just spent the Christmas holidays exploring the creative potential of oil pastels that I’ve carted around with me for 50 years with using them. Suddenly I discovered a new joyful activity and reawakened a skill that lay dormant since grade school.

I have been craving this sort of inspiration. This video is SO relatable (especially when it comes to being interested in the many facets that this world has to offer). I have been struggling for the past couple of years when it comes to creativity. From drawing nearly everyday as a young adult, to never picking up a pen in MONTHS as I am nearing the age of 30. I hope to do something creative every day with you, too. Thank you giving people like me a little spark of creativity, a sense of hope, and the feeling of not being alone in craving color in our lives.

Thank you for the inspiration Mick. My daughter bought me a sketch book for Christmas in 2021. I just found it in a box the other day, with only three pencil drawings in it. You've given me motivation to work on more. Maybe to supplement your income you could have prints made of your paintings and sell them. They are great!

I constantly worry about not drawing good enough and therefore not getting into art school. Something like this, taking a step back, really makes the stress disappear, and in turn I make the best art I ever have nearly every time I create, purely because my perspective is no longer negative. This year I’ll try to explore the natural world with art, and hopefully share the journey with you :)

Hiya fellow artist and creator! I’m pretty blown away by your attitude and accomplishments for someone so young! It was interesting to see the way you worked with watercolour on this painting. You used it pretty much like gouache and the brush you used was definitely making it even more challenging. Now that you’ve discovered watercolours, I encourage you to dive deep into the process and learn what magic it holds. It is a medium unlike any other and when allowed more freedom on the page (use more water! Lol) it can create a million little masterpieces all by itself! Play around with different brushes, papers, paints and techniques. Let it loose on the page to flow and mix with other colours…you will have an absolute ball! Welcome to the watercolour lover’s club. Happy painting! ❤

That was just what l needed at 5.30 am. I can't sleep. I'm happy to be awake watching this. Calming, inspiring, and mesmerising. It occurred to me that you might enjoy Chinese Colligraphy. I purchased a pack of brushes to paint pictures with. They are a dream to paint with. The brushes are sort of far with a tapered off tip. They hold an incredible amount of paint. I recommend mixing up thin coloured inks or watercolours, and starting with petals or leaves, you will be stoked with the results. ❤

Funny how you say "I'm rambling" and I'm thinking "NO YOU AREN'T!" Funny, because I say this phrase a lot, and my best friend always takes exception. I've learned that what seems like a "ramble" to me, is not necessarily a ramble to others. I think it goes with that storytelling gift. Please - ramble! This is the best part of EVERY video you make. I love the watercolors you’re doing, and it would be amazing to see more! It would be really cool to see you try to mesh two concepts together(two animals, an animal and an object, an object and a word, etc.). I'm a french artist trying to figure out how to survive as such and how exactly to navigate through the difficulties of working alone without any guidance. I'd be glad to journey with you this year, that was very inspiring. I cannot imagine myself drawing everyday for a year but creating something at least every week, multiples times a week, i think that's more reasonable for me. I've been thinking of starting my own youtube channel and audience but with no skill whatsoever in video making i'm struggling to make a plan. But i'll figure it out ; I know I can make other stuff happen so why should that be any different ; maybe i'll realise along the way it's not for me later but i can't know without trying. I want to live from my art, but dreaming about it won't make it happen.

Hey Mick, It's wonderful you've picked up this daily art for a year as a challenge. However, after doing this myself for a year - and producing nearly 500 "works". I find myself (nearly two years ago) very similar to how you are today. The only advice I have to give is never let art become content. That aspect destroyed a lot of the reasons why I create in the first place. The better way to think about this is not as a challenge, but as just normal, regular practice for better, more refined and true artwork. Nevertheless, good luck.

So, I will commit to doing something creative every day is 2024. Thank you for the inspiration.❤
