On the back cover you had a picture of Jesus waiting at a table. It reminded me of Isaiah 30:18, "So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help." That's my favorite verse to remind me to spend time with God.

When I read my Bible, I'm listening to God but also having a conversation with Him, asking questions, getting surprises, learning new things, and being refreshed with previous teaching. The Bible is unique, God speaking to us. It is dynamic and living because it is the words of our Living God. The Bible transforms us. I think it might have been Spyrgeon who said ' we don't read the Bible it reads us'. I write on mine all the time, sermon notes as well as sticking in charts and cuttings. It is a work book. The print is not sacred but the words are. Once I read is completely I buy a new one often different translation and start on my fresh Bible again, marking it etc Bless you and keep reading.

I marked in my Bible when I started reading the word in 2022 but I didn’t fully start highlighting until the start of 2024 and it’s been life changing. I just got an NLT Bible because I had the Bible read to me via the you version app using the CSB version while following along using my KJV Bible and that was fine and I read the Bible in a year and some months, but, I didn’t really grasp what was being read to me and since I had another voice reading the word I didn’t hear God. Ever since I got the NLT Bible and started reading on my own and not relying so heavily on the app, it’s been life changing. The starting phase was just getting the word known to me and now I think I’m gonna be able to fully read and get it to the best of my ability. I feel guilty for not taking it as seriously but also putting pressure on myself to not miss a day 😅 which is weird combo. I wish the you version app didn’t have a streak thing, that really got to my brain and God made sure to teach me that didn’t matter real quick 😂. I got sick and I lost my streak a month or two after I started in 2022 lol. I also don’t really write in Bible besides highlighting (I just started highlighting in 2024) and underlining verses, my handwriting is so bad and my perfectionism is also bad. What you said about not wanting you Bible becoming an idol is something I didn’t want as well which is another reason why I won’t do Bible journaling. I really like Charles Metcalf sermons, he’s really relatable with them and during my first year of being in the word he really helped me. This comment is a little long 😅, oops.

Hi Lauren, thank you so so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate long comments...you're the sweetest ever! I'm so happy to hear that some small changes in your Bible time have been life-changing to you. That is sooo powerful! Wow! I TOTALLY understand what you mean by not trying to put pressure on yourself for taking things too seriously but feeling guilty for missing a day...I totally feel the same way about marking up in my Bible sometimes. It's a funny thing to try to balance, but I think it's good to be self-aware. At the end of the day, God doesn't care about our reading streaks or how many pages are marked up, but He just cares about our hearts. I hope that the perfectionism you feel about your Bible will go away and that you'll be able to dip your toes into marking up your Bible (if that is something you've been wanting to do). I promise we will always make mistakes, and God is so okay with that! Sometimes I write out words or even completely cover some notes with a piece of paper because I hated how it looked. There are so many ways to "cover up" these "mistakes." But I don't really do this anymore and embrace the growth, whenever I can. I love being able to look back at how God spoke to me in the past. Even if you never journal in your Bible, I hope you keep a journal for sermon notes, prayers, etc.. It's so encouraging to be able to reflect on your growth and to see how God has moved in your life. I'm sure you already do this but I'm such a strong proponent for physically writing down notes somewhere! Anywhere! Thanks for your recommendation! I sometimes listen to Charles Metcalf too. Relatable preachers are the best. May 2024 be a prosperous year of reading, studying, and highlighting for you! Praying for you. God bless you, friend! :)

I don't usually do anything to embellish my bibles, I just enjoy reading them straight through. So I love it when they are illustrated or have pretty typeface and helpful notes already there. One of my bibles is a teen bible, with a lot of room for notes, and I am going to add song lyrics all throughout it, songs which go with what's on the pages. And I love coloring bibles, I have a couple of those. I haven't found the right tools to use, though, to make them look right. I am still struggling with that, but it's a journey. Right now, I am just in a reading phase.

Just whatever I felt like :) As for the beads, it’s actually from one of my bookmarks! My Bible only has one ribbon so I have quite a few bookmarks in there haha. Thank you for your comment! I don't have the same convictions as you but I do respect how you feel. I only print out artistic photos of Jesus that are clearly art pieces (and not an actual person). I'm a creative person so artwork really speaks to me and that's why I include them in my Bible. I promise you it's not for idol worship..but more of a tool to evoke worship for me because of the visual reminder. I get teary eyed whenever I see a crown of thorns for example, and it reminds me of Jesus' sacrifice for me. An image is worth a thousand words as many say. It's okay if we have different convictions though. God bless you sis in your walk! Blessings!! :') ♡

Aww hi there! I loveee your channel! The side tabs are pages that have longer notes (such as from sermons or Bible studies). Some are labeled for quick access because they are pages I want easy access to. In the beginning, I started tabbing the sides so I could be encouraged by my spiritual growth, but later on I no longer needed it and only tabbed notes I want to easily reference. Thank you for watching 🥹💌❣️

Hi Rebecca, your video popped up in my YT recommendations. I just wanted to share some thoughts about it. I found it interesting that you talk about ‘idolization’ of a bible, do I understand it correct that you mean you don’t want the decoration of this book to become more important than studying in it? I wanted to share something about the importance of having a standard of Gods Word. If two persons read the same text from a different Bible that says something else then how do we know which one is correct I learned not so long ago that most bibles that are used in modern church are corrupted Bibles they are based on Alexandrian manuscripts (Egypt) instead of Textus receptus manuscripts (Antioch) . Not only are important doctrines changed there are even verses completely left out.This Jesus Bible is also a modern version not based on original manuscripts, the textus receptus. So always compare what you read with the pure original text in Kjv Bible. Psalm 138: 2 tells this: I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Gods word is not changing it is very important to study from the correct Bible version, it is easy to be distracted and the enemy knows very well how to keep us distracted from studying from Gods True Word. Have a blessed weekend

Hi friend, thank you so much for being here and for leaving your thoughtful comment! By idolization, I just mean putting anything or anyone we put before God. Even good things like ministry, reading our Bibles, our families, etc., may become idols if we put them in front of God Himself. I think at one point, I struggled with idolizing my Bible and feeling like I had to "fill up all the pages" since I knew other people would see it...I was doing it not just because I wanted to spend time with God, but because I was also worried about how others viewed me. Because of this, I am now very careful...so I made it a point to only write notes and highlight when I am in the mood to do so...I will not mark anything if I find myself thinking about anything besides wanting to spend time with God. I hope this makes sense...but the way you phrased it is also a part of it! I understand your hesitations about modern translations. I hear that a lot, which is why I also have KJV, NKJV, and other translations. I don't currently read KJV as my main Bible because it is confusing for me...I think I would misinterpret it a lot...and worse than how I understand modern translations. I'm a believer that the best translation for a person is one that they will actually read and apply to their life! The missing verses are still in my Bible...just usually in italics. If we really think about it, all our English Bibles are translations of the original Hebrew and Greek text. I also believe that God is sovereign enough to still reach and touch people despite human error! Everyday He uses flawed people like you and I to be the light in the dark world. I have different translations and compare them because although they all essentially mean the same thing, sometimes the NIV or the NLT or the NKJV version just cuts deeper to my heart. Sometimes just a difference of some words makes it hit that much more. Although I don't feel the same convictions as you when it comes to Bible translations, I appreciate your concern, and I applaud you for using KJV! Hope you've had a blessed Sunday! :)
@spreadjoy285

Hi thank you for taking time to answer. The issue is not translation, it's which underlying text is used. There are multiple Hebrew and Greek texts. The most important thing to understand is that the KJV is based on what is called the majority text. Which consists of around 6000 manuscripts. 99% of manuscripts agree with the majority text. Modern bible versions are nearly all based on the so-called critical text. Also called the minority text. The critical text consists of around 40 manuscripts. The most important one is called Codex Vaticanus. (Guess where it comes from). Around 90% of any modern translation comes from this manuscript. Around 8% comes from Codex Sinaiticus. These manuscripts are Alexandrian. They are from Egypt and demonstrable gnostic in nature. They do not agree with the majority text which comes from Antioch, Assyria (see Acts 11: 26). The vaticanus and sinaiticus manuscripts alter the text in many places and they omit many verses. They also have the apocryphal books as part of the old testament. The modern new testament in use today is the Novum Testamentum Graece by Nestle/UBS also called the NU text. It is made under supervision of the Vatican. the 27nd edition page 45 proves this. God is able to reach someone through wondrous ways. Everyone has his or her own responsibility for which Bible they pick to study from. Have a great day!

Great video. I'm new to bible journaling. I've been using YouVersion app for years but trying something new. It's hard with two small kids so I definitely don't out too many expectations on my self. For a while I was definitely feeling pressure like "I need to FILL this thing up" but my heart checked me because the bible itself should not become an idol. I'm definitely leaning more towards note taker style bible journaling. I like the idea of a few art pieces on blank pages but I want to be able to see the word.

Hi friend! Thanks so much for being here and leaving your thoughtful comment! I completely agree with what you said. A heart check is always good when we feel tempted or pressured to fill up the pages. God just wants our hearts. I only add art to blank pages or I'll tape them in a way where I can still flip them over and read the text. Wishing you a prosperous year of Bible reading and studying.
