@jlee562

+caziontherise Being Korean-American and who's been to Korea a bunch of times, you don't have to worry about corrupt cops or scammers. Yea, you'll hear stories about pick pocketers and people who'll try to sell you stuff that you don't need, but that's common no matter what country you go to. It's up to you to make sure to have some awareness and common sense to not expose yourself. Bottom line, you'll be fine in Korea. I'll be teaching in Korea next Friday and I'm super excited!

I really loved the sleeping loft like that when I lived in Japan, but the stairs you have look WAY better than the rickety ladder I had! I had bruises on my legs for the longest time from the sides of my ladder. I really wish I could find an apartment with this sort of layout here in NYC, but all our small apartments try to be "luxury" units for rich people from Long Island to send their kids to NYU, rather than comfortable residences for normal single people. Sigh, I miss Asia.

What's great about your video is that you have steady hands. You instinctly know when to make the focus short or long (for example, you show the contents of ref as a whole, not item by item). Also your personality is great though I don't know how you look except that you said you're 6 ft tall. You don't try to be cute, you have positive attitude, you have ease and confidence even when you make a mistake, and you adjust well to your surroundings (a loft half your height). Don't worry, I'm not crushing on you. I'm a retired trainer-educator by profession and giving feedback helps to build self-esteem. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼

Sweet place! I'm planning on teaching English in Korea. I hope to catch the March 2016 departures with EPIK. If I don't get accepted with them (because I heard it's become more competitive), then I'll go with the recruiter route. Either way, my heart and mind is set on doing this. If I do manage to teach within the EPIK program, what can I expect when it comes to location and quality of apartment? Like you, it doesn't really matter much to me since it'll hopefully be free and my goal will be to budget adamantly (but enjoying the experience as well, which costs a little here and there). Do you have any choice in location with EPIK or is it random? Any other tips? Oh, and how well in advance should I start gathering documents if I'm aiming for March departure with EPIK?

@CoryMay81
6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. The school never disclosed that information with me. My guess is that it was around $500 or $600 per month, but I have no idea what the key money was (deposit). Usually in Korea, the deposit, called "key money" is either $5,000 or $10,000. The more key money you put down, the lower your monthly rent is. You get key money back when you move out, minus any costs for damages and stuff. And this apartment was located in the Rexion building, just across the Banghak train station, in Banghak-dong, northern Seoul.
