Malacca is located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Straits of Malacca. It was colonized by the Portuguese, Dutch, British and the Japanese during their occupation of 400 years. This historical city center has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008. Recent studies show that this Malay kingdom was established in year 1262, before Parameswara came to Malacca. However, this monarchy was abolished when the Portuguese conquered it in 1511.
Jonker Street. It is known for its antique goods.
Dutch Square. It consists of Victoria Fountain, Chris Church and, Stadthuys , Building. All buildings were painted in red color here.
Sultan Palace. The replica of Malacca Sultanate palace was built without using any nails. The architecture of this palace was
taken from the reign of Sultan Mansur Shah. He ruled Malacca from year 1456 -- 1477.
A'Famosa. The Portuguese built the fortress in 1521 to protect them from attack by Sultan of Malacca and people of Malacca.
When Dutch took over Malacca, they rebuilt the fortress thicker and higher. During the Dutch revolution British took it over.
St Paul Church. During Malacca day trip, we will do a little bit of walking and climbing. To visit Saint Paul Church we need to climb 180 steps of St Paul Hill. Tourist is advised to wear a good walking shoes. St Paul Church originally just a small chapel built in 1521. In this church, tourists will be able to see the grave belongs to Saint Francis Xavier.
Strait Malacca. Before we conclude day tour to Malacca, we will stop at Strait Malacca Mosque for a photo stop. This is a perfect spot for a photo shoot and for tourists to feel and see how the longest straits in the world looks. This mosque is situated at the man-made island known as Malacca Island. Its official opening was done in 2006.
Other places to visit are Malacca River, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, Jonker Street, Malacca Maritime Museum and Kampung Kling Mosque.
