I have been collecting rocks for 30years have literally packed home tons a backpack at a time. About 15years ago I started targeting or searching for meteorites both metal detecting and eyeballing along with extensive study hours. I have since collected hundreds of probable meteorites or rocks that meet general description of what is a meteorite from the size of a dime to 78lbs. I have sorted a small portion down to highly probable-magnetic, fusion crust, roll over lip, flow lines, strewn field finds, etc. I purchased a high end diamond saw and lapidary just recently and started cutting about fifty have not polished(still working 50hours a week as construction PM and three kids so time is limited for five more years)but clearly after cutting again roughly 50some are highly likely meteorites or still in the running based on years of photos and research but that said would you be willing to take a look at some photos and give me your thoughts. I live in a very dry region, much of which is flat dry land farms private land and although not a hot bed for meteorite finds based on historic data and the experts they are here no doubt and in quantity. Thank you for the video much appreciated. If you would rather not take a look at some photos I completely understand I see the comments on various meteorite videos stating got a rock just like that one so I get it. I don’t know why but you are the first person I decided to ask in the community of collectors and salesmen. Thanks Again.

Ever heard of Healdsburgite? It's a psudo-tektite found out here in one specific valley of Northern California. They are now thought to be the weathered hearts of obsidian boulders, but at one time not too long ago, they were being investigated as tektite. I have a few, if you want one.

SAFFRODITE tektite I'm guessing is a safford-ite i noticed because I'm from safford i find these all the time only kept a few Their mostly black but I just found out theres white ones also yours looks gray maybe its different looks really nice I don't believe their tektites some are full of stripes visible when viewing the translucency. I don't think tektites will have these stripes. Very nice video awsome collection. love seeing different examples. I have so many rocks attracted to magnet. Some look exactly like a couple of your in my opinion at least

I've always wondered what would happen if a meteorite was smacked with a sledgehammer. Would it flatten out any metal inside would it just explode the stone or something unimaginable.
@KleshTV

depends on the meteorite composition. Some would shatter into dust, others you might only dent them

Once again I thank YOU for sharing your killer collections and (most important) the views from your camera!! It was so awesome to see the different striation marks and the molten bubbles. You can totally tell this is not from this planet! I really enjoyed seeing the different types of crystals that are formed through that massive heat exchange.... Two (or four) questions : are these specimens found with a metal detector? The rocks all seem different but are they easy to find just like geodes are? Do you have to know of a meteorite falling before you find it (research ahead?) ? AND....do you know that you make all of this look easy to find? LOL 🤣 thanks in advance!!
@KleshTV
3 жыл бұрын
Well, yes and no for all your questions - The ones with metal can be found with a metal detector. Not the stone ones (like the stony chondrites, the lunar and martian). Most known strewn fields have already been picked over really well, so it's difficult to find known meteorites. It's also difficult to find unknown meteorite strikes, that's all about luck unless you're lucky enough to see where one lands. And although I've never been out looking for meteorites in nature, there are plenty at the Gem shows that come to Denver every year LOL
@lisalisameyer1077
3 жыл бұрын
@@KleshTV wow! Looks like when the gem shows return then you'll DEFINITELY have to do a field trip with your patreon/community peeps to find more treasures! These are great. How are they identified as meteorites? Curious in case I ever come across one.

Most are found by hunting known strewn fields. The meteorites will have specific characteristics compared to the land surrounding them making them more easily identifiable.
