The one thing that I noticed about putting my stuff in a digital space is that there were so many distractions. Every time a text or alert came through I would be distracted and focus would be lost. Bullet journaling allowed me to be creative and actually retain things I had learned over time. For me, journaling has kept me accountable for things I want to accomplish. Great vid. I feel like you explained your reasons for holding out on journaling but I’m glad you decided to try it out 💪🏼

Loved this - I've felt so inadequate watching all the arty bullet journals whereas mine is just functional. One suggestion - I work from the front of the journal for all the monthly, weekly, daily stuff and then start at the back for all my "other stuff". That way I finish when the book is full and it works well.

I do exactly the same thing, and I use a two-page index listing monthly/weekly, etc on the first page, and the 'collections' on the second. It's been extremely useful for me.

Dude. Your explanation of your original confusion was like fresh water to my soul. Every time I land on another video showing how to make stickers just baffles me. Super creative and cool, just leaves me scratching my head. I am wanting to manage information,tasks ,projects,goals........not how to color,do calligraphy,and learn to draw. Am I just crazy? Thx for video!

Such a great example of how to personalize this method to work for you! It doesn't have to be "beautiful" and artistic to be a personalized bullet journal. I look forward to seeing how it works for you long-term!

Thank you so much for this video! As a minimalist plus someone who is not creative with art, I prefer the simple Bullet Journal. I really like your idea of the three sections. I bought a journal in...ummm...December 2017 and still haven't begun because I was so overwhelmed watching all the videos that made me think one had to be an artist, calligrapher, tracker of every single personal aspect of my life, have a specific brand of pens, etc. until I entered overload, took a step back and said "chill out - I'll begin this when I'm ready."

Bullet journalling has majorly made me a better version of myself. Like you said, once I set it up the daily time needed is mere minutes. I forget less, am on time more, and have been maintaining the mindsets and emotional states I am aiming for more. My projects are more strategic and difficult relationships have improved. I am equipped to be more fact-based while reflecting and moments are distilled in the moment, resisting emotional mindset history warping tendencies. Cheerful positive quotes and improvement benchmark lists help me resist getting obsessed with the worst 2% that is problematic at the expense of ignoring the rest that is going / doing well. I always use and have used big old school binders for planning classes and projects. I have used apps for collaboration but one of my budget squeezing points is cheap minimal tech and internet. I also dislike the idea of screen time addiction and dependency. I did look at youtube for inspiration but I picked and chose. For me art is fun/catharsis/therapy/symbolically meaningful rather than strictly aesthetic. I have had people suggest artistic career paths but I have struggles with criticism and commercialism (and a day-job that pays the rent). I don't do the art to be decorative. I do it to express ideas that are better represented with pictures rather than words. I hate committing to page numbers in an index or the fixed structure of a notebook so I use colors and bookmarks for locating things and chose an A5 binder. It's so hard to even imagine moving from binder to notebook. However, while I do like the printable calendar pages, I printed my own dot grid pattern on paper because the dot paper flexibility is nice. Sometimes I like graph paper or gradebook paper (especially for trackers). The binder lets me use all kinds of paper. For personal journaling and collections/lists, I like folded art paper. For rolling weekly, I only write down tasks that are out of the normal routine to focus just on what I need to actively remember. I have a crazytome braindump section filled with dreams, symbols, and other brain-occupiers.

Thanks for your video. I’m watching a lot of bullet journal ideas trying to sift through what I think will work for me. Your video was very helpful. I took a class on time management years ago. They said when you set your todos for the day only put in what you realistically think you can accomplish that day. That way you have a better chance to check off all your todos for the day.

I stated mine in October and made a fancy page for the begining of the month... That was the last time I did that. I also glued some stuff in because I was using markers and didn't want bleed through. It was fine for a few pages but I didn't like it. Now I use a pen, and have almost abandoned bujo organization. ATM... I just have a long to do list I read through and cross off as I go. Also can I say, I love how guys say *page*... Idk... It drives me a little bonkers all the girls make "spreads." Na... They are just pages. :) I had habit trackers and I'm on a break from them right now. I do like using a bit of color, and headers. Its evolving.

You took some freedom away from yourself when you preplanned the pages to start a month. That is what the future log is for. To not have to follow a preset. You can decide each week or month how much space you need/want. What I do, because I like to have collections in the back is to start them from the back. Becase of that I also do not reall need an index.

@itskyleadams

ken Rowan The great thing about productivity is that what works really well for one person may not work so well for another. While you may see this as a lot of time spent, this method may actually keep Cory focused enough to gain/set aside more time with his family. I’ve tried a lot of different methods for keeping a family, my own business, and an ongoing contract job balanced. Lately that’s been with a written note each day, but I often find that I forget a few things and then feel overwhelmed. Time is the most valuable thing we have and keeping track of how it’s spent can be really eye opening!

Shout out to the inventer of the Bullet Journal method, Ryder Carroll. Look up his videos if you want to know how and why you do the things you do in a bullet Journal. Better yet read the book and it explains fully the reasoning behind the whole concept. I just want to point out that this is not a bullet Journal it's a planner made in a bullet Journal book. There's a big difference. I'm not trying to be critical I'm just pointing out to anyone watching this video that they need to look up Ryder Carroll to see how a real bullet Journal setup looks and functions.

Kim X a bullet journal is whatever works for you. He personalized his journal to for his needs. Using concepts from other people who use journals to make it his own. Telling someone that their doing a bullet journal wrong is like telling someone that their version of art is wrong. It's subjective, and personalized.
@IowaKim

@@imallwrite571 No where in my comment did I say this bullet journal here was being done "wrong". I merely was pointing out the originator of the concept so that comment readers can do more research. I often cruise the comments for more information. Ryder goes in depth into the years of working out the psychology of why the Bullet Journal works. sheesh.
