Love the video, I might have missed it but what are the pros and cons of having the ta KS tank in the floor? Savings on not needing to buy a stands. Easy top viewing, etc

My personal choice for having it on the floor is that it is the perfect viewing height from my sofa. I like the top view as well and I feel closer to the fish. The stand is also a big cost and it would block the view out of my window. I like experimenting with different things 😃

If this is your home, you should have an automation possibility there. It looks complicated to do water changes there.

Thanks, but water changes are really simple. I have a video coming out specifically on them this week 😁

Fab video ,Chris. I will need to rewatch the part about the filter. Is it absolutely necessary to have a UV light ? I would like something simple for my new aquarium. I have always been very worried about adding the water and conditioner at the same time. So I mix it all in a bucket before I add the water to the fish. However doing this is very cumbersome and tiring for me. 😮

Mixing beforehand is definitely the preferred way, but unfortunately, it's just not possible with my tank. Uv is definitely not necessary, but I was having problems with clarity and green water, so I opted for one. Thanks 😊

@@AquaticElements So you add the dechlorinator to the 60% full tank . Do you leave it for 5 minutes and then add the tap water ? Do you base the amount of dechlorinater on the whole tank ? Thankyou .

I dose the full water volume of the tank to make sure there are no problems. And fill up straight away.

Hi from the Netherlands Love the set-up! I dont see any heaters in your set up. What temp does your water normally get in winter time? Got my first tank 5 months ago a 560L tank got 5 ranchu diffrent sizes. Upgrading my tank to a 720L next month. The only real high cost is the heating for my. To keep the cost low I keep my tank at 22 degrees. Hopefully when the weather gets warmer again the tank waters also gets warmer What do you think about colder water in the winter and warmer in the summer like how it goes outside.
@AquaticElements

I think seasonal fluctuation is good, I just keep mine at room temperature. They sit around 20 degrees in winter and go up to around 25/27 in summer depending how warm my room gets.

Does the temperature not shock them when you do the water change? Dont you have to premix the dechlorinator?
@AquaticElements

I just dose the aquarium volume worth of dechlorinator. Because I'm changing 40% there isn't a significant change in temperature. Thanks

I think HULX are just restocking now. They have had some supply issues which I'll be discussing in a video soon. If you can't find it on ebay or amazon I would wait until they have sorted the website and stocking issues. Apologies

What’s the reason for changing the filter fleece every 7 days 😮

It's gets blocked very quickly. Ideally every 4 days would probably be best

@ryanrhodes6084 I buy it on a 10m roll, its not really worth my time to clean it as its so cheap. I would clean any sponges etc but the filter fleece is just easier to replace. Thanks
