I have acne and I’ve just got it under control over the last 9 months. Dermatologist visits always left me frustrated. Honestly, a few things that helped me were adjusting my diet. I limit my intake of sugar, dairy, and avocados. Please look at your diet and see if you have any allergies. Maybe try an allergy test. Also, I would recommend you see a black esthetician in your area. Check on ig to find someone whose work you think is credible. Seeing a black esthetician regularly for facials, chemical peels, and product recommendations saved my skin. My esthetician knows how to treat people of my complexion. Lastly, sunscreen has to be the last step in your routine and you are supposed to reapply ever two hours. I know it’s tedious but it helps soooo much. Wear sunscreen always even in the house. If you’re serious about the sunscreen you’ll see great results in the tone of your skin. This is what I’ve learned. Wish you all the best!

Yeah, my dermatologist is frustrating me and I pay so much for visits and prescriptions! The products are inconsistent and sometimes they work well and other times they don't. And my dermatologist is black! I cut caffeine and mostly dairy (apart from ice cream occasionally lol) from my diet but I will try to cut out sugar now too. My plan for this summer was to visit estheticians regularly for facials and treatments but then covid hit. :( This just reassures that I should go on with it since it helped you. And you are right, I need to reapply every 2 hours, I only do it once! And I will also ask about an allergy test. Thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate it!! 🤗❤

I never comment on anything on KZitem, but I’m a newer subscriber of yours and I’ve been binging all your videos-you’re absolutely fantastic, and gorgeous! I, too have had some skin issues over the years. I’ve struggled with Cystic acne since I was a teenager (I’m 30 now), I come from a very oily family-but at least we all look pretty youthful (an oily skin benefit), so that’s cool, haha. I’m going to try to write this without it sounding like an infomercial, but will probably fail miserably. Over the last two years I finally got my skin under control, I’ve gone through so many different treatments, products, and derms/docs over the years-and wasted so much money. Finally tho, my skin is smooth and clear. I actually get a lot of compliments from strangers about having nice skin. RX: Minocycline 2x/per day (doctor prescribed a couple years ago, but now on a low dose). Skincare daily routine (evening), pretty much in this order: 1. Acnedote Scrub. 2. Acnedote Face Wash, leave on for a couple minutes and then rinse. 3. Witch Hazel w/ a cotton pad. 4. Acnedote Oil Control Lotion. 5. Nutragena On-The-Spot Treatment (if needed). In the morning I’m more so in a hurry, so I just use Burts Bees facial towelettes (pink package) that are made for oily skin. Then I finish it up with the Acnedote Oil Control Lotion. Look into these products and maybe you’ll find some of them you’ll want to give a go, but honestly they all work really well, and this routine saved my skin. AND, they’re all pretty affordable! Which is great because I always used to equate expensive with effectiveness, but that’s proven itself to me to NOT be the case. FYI, I used to get Acnedote at Whole Foods, but now they’ve moved in some more expensive lines instead. You can still get it online tho at Amazon and whatnot. Whoops, this got very long-winded. Anyways, if you have any questions, just let me know. Keep up the good work, I love your channel. Thank you for all the great videos! Nick

Omg thank you so much for being so kind! 🥺💕 I will definitely try some of these products, I read about them on the Skincare Addiction reddit and they have positive feedback! However, my derm prescribed me the Minocycline but I had to stop taking it because it gave me stomach issues, unfortunately. If you don't mind me asking, do you get hyperpigmentation or dark spots? If so, what did you do to get rid of them? I have acne, but my biggest issue currently is my hyperpigmentation.

ALXSSA You’re welcome! What I’ve done to help with that is wear a hat, and just avoid the sun in general, especially at peak times of the day. I do this because one of Minocycline’s side effects is it can cause hyperpigmentation to get worse in combination with too much sun exposure... along with an increased risk of skin cancer. Yikes, right? Any hyperpigmentation I had prior to starting this routine has resolved itself over the last two years. As far as something to help your skin improve faster, I just reached out to my coworker/friend who works in the skincare department at the Whole Foods I work at... and she said for Hyperpigmentation she really likes the Vitamin C serums from both brands of Mad Hippie and Mychelle-she said they’re very effective. :) Hope this helps!

Thanks so much 🤗! I will definitely give these a try, esp those Vitamin C serums, I've been getting into those a lot now since I heard it helps dark spots.

i recommend to try to use salycilic acid products or acne treatment and also there are some dermatologist that to be honesst are bad because the products they reccomended for my sis dryed up her face, also i reccomend watching Hyram and the The golden Rx. ALso, double cleansing is really important (oil cleansing), make sure to wear sunscreen at daytime! Hope this works or helps!!!

Awwe thank you for the suggestions! 💕 yeah my products work at times, but right now my skin is dry and scarring for no reason and my skin is naturally oily. I think they are too drying and are causing my skin to be more irritated. I am subbed to the Golden Rx but I will check out Hyram too! And i heard of double cleansing with oil but does that work on oily skin?

@@ALXSSA yes but if your face keeps feeling tight or dry I reccomend you use a more gentle cleanser because it can rlly irritate your face, go for a hydrating cleanser such as simple hydrating gel cream for sensitive skin. Also, use niacinamide 10% the ordinary for your dark spots or acne scars, Im not sure if you should have more than 5 steps in skincare but i reccomend having a more simple skincare routine, but if haing more steps helps your skin then go for it:).
