I'm currently reading Wakenhyrst for book club. I'm a bit scared that it will be too creepy for me 😄 The same goes for In Cold Blood, which has been on my shelf for ages. Looking forward to all your videos with your mom in 2020 (and all the others, too, of course) 🙂

Oh I'm so happy to see your mum holding up The reason I jump. It's one of the first autism books I read after my eldest son was diagnosed ASD and SPD. It made me cry heaps (and I'm a tough old bird who just doesn't do that) it was a window into everything my son can't articulate himself (he is verbal but I mean in the sense he can't explain his behaviour). I've recently read it again to relate it to my younger son who is in the process of being diagnosed ASD as well. I would urge anyone to read this as ASD awareness in general needs improving in society, but particularly if you have an ASD person in your life. Thank you Mrs S for highlighting this book xxx

I’m so pleased to have seen this, I must read In Cold Blood soon, it’s in my bookcase somewhere. I enjoyed Waykenhust as well but it’s not in my top ten and I didn’t really understand My Sister the Serial Killer but perhaps I should reread it. It was everywhere when I read it and perhaps that affected my reading. I need to play catch up on the Women’s Prize back list. I’ll get there and I refuse to read about Kevin again. Thanks for some fun this evening.

First: your mom is adorable... And I've got to confess I'm jealous, my mom is adorable and nice too, but she doesn't read. So, sometimes, she ask me the title of a book so she could go at the library, but no... she doesn't go. It is a good idea to have your mom's best books... Never too much book recommendation! Did you see the interview of the author or My Sister the Serial Killer on the channel Politique and Prose on youtube? Really funny, she explain the book structure, if her sister is a serial killer (lol)....

It's so much fun watching you and your mother talk about books. What is the title of the book you mentioned that is about slavery in the U.S.? I couldn't quite catch the title. Happy reading! I'd like to recommend Grace: A Novel by Natashia Deon. I read four slave narratives last year, including The Underground Railroad, and Grace was my favorite. Give it a try, Simon. (Also, recommend it to your mom!)

In Cold Blood has haunted me for years and years. We were driving through Montana and Wyoming and I all I could think of was the story. I would see abandoned farms out in the middle of nowhere and it was so horrid. The Prince of Tides hit me the same way. I hated both stories and in a way I was sorry I read them.

Tell your mom that there was a docuseries featuring the remaining living people from the time..i.e. policemen, relatives of the family and killers etc..." Cold Blooded: The Clutter Family Murders" .it is fascinating. The family gave their permission for the series and interestingly a daughter was not home that night and obviously survived..her wedding was coming up in a few weeks and she married. I think that info was not released to protect her..Also, that gothic book is added to tbr...it sounded liked you kept saying Michel Faber...haha

Hi 👋 Louise 📚🤩Id love to know what books would have come between 5-10. Edna O’Brien is a writer who I want to read more of. The Reason I Jump is an important book for me, as I’m the mother of an autistic adult. It was serialised on bbc radio 4 some years ago. Look for books by Luke Jackson ( autistic adult). “ Freaks, Geeks and Aspergers Syndrome”.
