I lived in Meldrum st, off Florin St. My dad worked at the Zarma.. I lived there from 1942 until 1963.. I went to John st school. I still feel nostalgic for those lovely communities and friends.. we had nowt or very little, but what glorious friends we had. 💝

I remember it well with great affection, we lived in Harrison Street off Ellor Street from 1956 until 1960 when they started to demolish the houses, A great song.

Brilliant song and words, kids looked so happy, playing marbles and footi in the stree. Amazing memories, sadly children don't seem to have the freedom we had as kids. Great video. Viewer from Leeds Yorkshire.

Absoloutely love the archive pictures and smoggy-cole folk song!. Past reminders of the rise and fall of Industrial Revolution that once delivered both prosperity and poverty in equal measures, right up until the 1970s - even now the place is a post-apocalyptic due to social cleansing and gentrification/e-commerce. Have no connection whatsoever to Hanky Park and never been there, yet I simply love historical archive footage of Northern England.

Glad you enjoyed the song. I never lived in that part of Salford but our school bus used to pass close by. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. :}

My Dad was born in Hanky Park in 1930 the year the book or the film of the book Love on the Dole came out. Said he used to play football in his bare feet with Frank Riley the artist. Can anyone pinpoint where this is in present day Manchester? Is it basically where Salford Precinct is now? Any info would be nice as I live in Manchester now and would like to find out.
