Or just swim to the back of the boat and just use the cavitation plate as an emergency ladder and climb back in. So much easier

Glad you're OK, bud, but three dumb points to consider: 1) No life vest (the camera only helps confirm cause of death) 2) Reaching out, from boat (Any boat) 3) Nothing on boat Designed, to help you get back in. (ladder, hand rails, whatever)

Man i had a boat accident where i crashed with my eyesocket on a pillar. Broke it at 3 places and fell i very cold deep water afterwards. I had no cable on my wrist that would stop the boat so the boat was spinning in circles after 3 failed tries to climb back in the boat. I also almost got hit by the propellor 2x. I decided to swim 30 meter to shore where i could hang at the side of a boat lucky people where coming to me to pull me out of the water!

I’ll never forget one year a group of us got together for a small tournament in the middle of the winter….it was actually snowing and I had snow on the deck of my bass boat….I stepped on the trolling motor pedal thinking it was going left and it went right….if not for grabbing the pedestal seat at the last second I was definitely headed into the water. Scared the daylights out of me.

Scary Stuff. Thanks for sharing, I think a lot of us wonder how to get back in the boat if we fall out. May want to invest in a comfortable life vest, let's hope there won't be next time. Good to see you're OK.

I've been professionally bass fishing since I was 19 years old. It was early March on the Connecticut River, the air temp. was in the low 40's and so was the water temp. I had a lot of layers on plus Duck boats. My dad and I was fishing Seldon's Creek, a small tributary that flows off the river then cuts back onto the river a mile or so south. There's a section of sheer cliff that goes straight into 20 feet of water. I was kinda paralleling a Bill Norman crankbait with a blue back and chartreuse sides that had a lot of metal flake in the finish. I accidentally made a cast into a small tree growing out of the cliff close to the water level. So I nosed our Stratos 201 Pro straight into the cliff face to retrieve my crankbait. As I reached out over the trolling motor to grab my bait a treble hook snatched me in the wrist, I yelled and my dad lurched from the rear deck to me on the bow of the boat and knocked me into 20 feet of water with him in on top of me. The last thing I remember is looking up once I was in the water and I saw the bottom of my dad's feet. The top of my head was instantly about 7 feet deep. The next thing I remember is grasping onto the cliff in the water and looking over my shoulder seeing my dad struggle in the freezing cold water to grasp the side of the boat. On his last dich attempt he grabbed the gunnel and was able to reach up, hit the power on the trolling motor pedal and troll to the opposite shore where it was shallow and sandy. He hoped in the boat then came across the creek to fetch me. The 3 or 4 mile run back to Salmon River boat launch was horrific. That was a reminder to always wear your PFD when it's really cold and you're out fishing. That was my first near death experience while bass fishing. If you watch the Billy Joel music video for the song River of Dreams which is about the Connecticut River there's a rope swing directly over the cliff where I almost drowned. There's a scene in the video of someone swinging out on that swing. The actual spot I almost died is in that music video, look it up sometime. Life is crazy!
