This is what all mountain bikes looked like 20 years ago! I love the simplicity, though I will say if you take it out on the rowdy trails you like to ride, this will handle it but you'll be feeling it in your wrists and forearms especially. I only ride hardtails, you learn how to absorb bumps on those, but you can't do much about a rigid front. I predict you'll have a blast but be pretty beat afterwards.

Matty, not sure what car you own these days, but I will say adding a hitch for a bike rack these days is relatively inexpensive! On three cars I've owned in the last 7 years, Curt hitches were direct bolt-on's, usually about $100-150 for the kit itself and its truly plug and play. If you are leasing the car, most installs only require bolts and captive nuts, so easy to un-do, no need to spend big bucks when you can DIY it, highly recommend them. Love the content!

And I think of myself as a bit of a brake snob and thought my low end cut off was around SLX with finned 200mm front rotor. I think I have the single piston Tektros on your bike on my dirt jumper, and while I think they're ok for a dj I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want them on my trail bike. To my great surprise I got a bike with Tektro Gemini 4 piston brakes with 180mm non finned rotor from the factory and I'm growing to be a big fan. I know evolution doesn't work like this but I think these are what budget brakes should have been decades ago. The 180mm Tektro rotor is slightly down on power compared to the 200mm SLX but for trail I believe it has not been enough to bother me yet. Probably wouldn't be a great idea for a dh bike though I wouldn't be surprised if the 200mm Tektro rotor were up to the task. I believe some of the magic is in the 2.3mm width of the rotor. I feel like it's a game changer in the budget class unlike the 1.8mm width on our single piston models.

5:16 If I had it I would put racks on for shopping and picking up packages, also would free up space in my backpack for mirrorless camera, so I could have a camera with me while shopping and if I spot something cool I can take a picture, and yet have bike full of groceries. Definitely would put a big and wide front rack, pannier rack at the back. Definitely a sweet bike. I would've made changes to it eventually, but decent start. Changes I would make to suit me and my needs: Faster rolling tyres. oval chainring to eliminate the heavy point in the stroke and knee pain. Round = agony for me. Catalyst pedals for supported arch. Cranks with direct mount, so there's no spider to bend, snap, so I won't need new cranks. Bash guide is a must for me, if riding down stairs, but affordable and light weight ones exist. I would not need it for other than riding down stairs which I would rarely do anyway with a rigid, but I like extra security anyway. I'm not sure on grip diameter, but if they are below 34mm I would get new grips too. I have a second pair of Revgrips so would swap that over. If I didn't I probably would've gone for some cheaper grips. Possibly the brakes, but not until these fail. As a rotor cooker, I might go for bigger rotors. Not sure how big I would be able to go at the rear due to the chain stay brake mount. I seem to overheat 180mm rotors quickly, unless floating, but I will warp any rotors even 223mm. But I think it's fine as is if I don't go crazy with speed for long and brake hard.

Before this video I thought it would be cool if we lived closer so you could try out my Stooge MKIV. While perhaps slightly less aggressive, that Breezer will be the experience I hoped you could have minus one thing. Unlike those below who say you should get rid of the Vigilantes, and actually trying a less aggressive tire setup would be perfectly reasonable for example Forecaster F Rekon R, I think you should get one 3.0 DHF for the front. Not 100% sure it will fit but looks like it. I try not to jump my bike or push it hard in berms, but you can ride crazy technical terrain with a 3" front tire down around 10 psi or maybe a touch less. Most of the time I don't ride that fast, but it surprises my intermediate level full suspension friends when I can keep up with them on technical downhill on a rigid with 9 psi 3" front 14 psi 2.6" rear.

The only downside to the Breezer is the weight- it’s quite a bit heavier than a rigid Surly Krampus, like by 5-6 pounds, for example, which doesn’t cost much more….but it has decent geometry and looks really good…it has a modern XC head angle of 67.7 degrees btw….

3:20 These tyres will definitely roll slow, but will be great on big wet roots.probably have decent cornering too judging by the close knobs, but bad mud clearance at the cornering knobs, transitioning might be awkward or not I don't know. But if you want to use it as a commuter, city bike, then these tyres are overkill, seems like these tyres are made for roots, and aggressive cornering, but not mud.

3:53 Wise choice, I got 11 speed version M5100 cassette on a bike, it shifts very smooth, way smoother than previous Shimano stuff. I also got the same rear derailleur M6100 SGS, but I see the m5100 SGS is the same RD just different logo, I've seen it in a comparison video. Cons: 4:05 The brakes have plastic master cylinder cover. Absurd. If you crash you will scrape it up badly and might puncture it, crack it. A brake should be fully metal in my opinion. 4:38 They could have spec'd a longer travel post instead with travel adjustment. The lightest and smoothest action is Bikeyoke Revive 2.0, I have one, so light action you mgiht mistake it for loose wire, but those are internally adjustable, and aren't cheap, but for user friendlier option PNW or One UP, one up has released V3 version. These posts have a shim in the collar to adjust the travel.

It's a very attractive bike that I would probably like to own in the future. Unfortunately, I also ride a lot of road miles. I wanted an opinion on how the bike rides on pavment with its factory gear ratios. Is it too slow on the flat or does the weight of the bike balance out the very agile gear ratios? I was thinking of mounting a 40-42T on the front and putting less aggressive tires on it, but I would first like the opinion of someone who owns one to understand if it can be used as an all-road bike.
