Great setup! Really nice work building it out. You should throw a couple small pieces of self-adhesive foam on the front corners of the aluminum angle where you get in from the tailgate. Congrats on the GFC, and nice buildout. I just got mine a few weeks ago, and cutting my plywood floor tomorrow. I never have favored a full deck system, because wouldn't be able to sit up easily in camper without moving bed squares. Yours has the best of both, and in a bad storm, can easily pull down the tent and sleep "downstairs", too. I'm with you on how fun it isn't to mount awnings, etc. Your build looks sharp with that aluminum edging. Enjoy camping!

You did awesome on everything! The one thing I really don't like about these type of tents is no rain-fly over the side windows. None of the wedge style have them and for me that's a big negative. Thanks so much for the feedback, and I definitely couldn't agree more about the lack of rain fly. There's actually a little tent pole kit you can get to convert the back door to a rain fly, but I think it should come with it.

Have you considered ditching the foam entirely and just placing an Exped Megamat Duo in there? That's the approach that the Super Pacific camper takes. The Exped is so insanely comfortable and i bet you could just open the deflate valve and then close it up.
@ArkansasOffroad
2 жыл бұрын
I've actually put a 2" thick memory foam mattress topper inside each of the floor panels. I didn't want an exped or mattress because I wanted to keep the floor sections separate so I could go in and out quick. I sleep with 1 of the square floor pieces out so I can pass through easily at night, and an exped or something that takes up the whole floor wouldn't let me pass through easily.

Also the 3/4” ply on your floor has to be the most expensive part of your build. Haha. I’ve spent a ton of time camping in my F-350 with a camper shell and the handle to lift the tailgate is brilliant! I am so jealous of you guys and your cars look so nice. Here in Korea, that Toyota Tacoma would probably sell for almost double the price in the U.S. Plus, there are very few service centres, so even if you buy a Tacoma, you'd have to struggle to maintain it. Obviously, the aftermarket is poor and the demand is not met. On top of all that, Korea is a graveyard for foreign cars, making it really hard for foreign brands to survive. Hyundai and the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport have an incredible symbiotic relationship that makes it incredibly difficult for foreign car brands to make a dent in Korea and increase sales. As a result, almost all of Korea's sales are dominated by Hyundai's crappy one-tonne carriers ("Porters"), or dull models like the Santa Fe and Mohave, which are underpowered patterned SUVs that can't even compete with the Tacoma. Watching your videos, I really hit the ground and choke back tears of envy for you guys. When the Tacoma you drive comes to Korea, officially goes on sale, and the tuning market takes off, there will be a huge number of people buying them, rural, urban, for construction, for recreational use, etc. But that's not going to happen as long as we have Hyundai in Korea. Seriously, I'm jealous of your Toyota Tacoma life.
