I like this utility knife, very solid and feels like it will last a long time, though it is a bit sketchy to open and close with one hand. If you notice in the video he uses the blade quick-release button as a grip when he pinches the blade open and I managed to get that technique down but it does make me a bit nervous if I were not paying close attention. Closing the knife one-handed is also a bit scary because this knife snaps shut very quickly due to the spring mechanism (much stronger than the one I'm used to on my spring-assisted pocket knife). If I were doing a task and not needing to open and close the knife frequently then I would use this one for sure because it's much more solid than say a Craftsman or Stanley utility knife, but if I were going back and forth opening and closing the knife then I would use something else like a retractable utility knife or a snapblade knife. If I could get a knife of this quality in a retractable or snapblade style that would be very cool.

Hey Jerry, if you want to make a transparent version I'd recommend natural g10 aka jade g10, it is more expensive than aluminum scales but looks nice, is transparent and is extremely solid. I've had plenty of knives with g10 handles over the years and I've never had any issues, it is an extremely solid material.

I love this knife, and plan on buying the clear one someday. My only gripe is that the quick release button works better for right handed people. I prefer the release system from a Kobalt. Where you can release it from either side. Other than that it seems like a great product.

Cool knife Jerry! There's a few things I would change in the design, 1) Make it have a liner lock, 2) Change the side of the pocket clip and make it a deep carry one. Otherwise, seems like a cool utility knife!

Word from an work protection instructor i had at work: Always cut away from you and not towards you, because you could slice your veins and the worse kind of slicing is along the whole forearm. Obviously if there's someone near you they might be in the range of the blade, so best keeping a distance.

I cut my finger pretty bad this week at work. I was using a Husky utility knife which has a very similar design to yours. I was closing the knife with one hand which I usually have no issue doing. The tip of my index finger was caught in the pinch point and the spring forced the blade deep into my finger. It seemed bad at first since I was dripping blood uncontrollably. I ended up tightly wrapping the wound with bandage and it healed fine over the weekend. These knifes are no joke and should be closed with two hands. I prefer the Milwaukee fast back for this reason, it has no spring and can be closed with one hand safely.

Knife nut here, have some suggestions for you! -if you’re looking to make a transparent knife without compromising the sturdiness of the knife and breaking the bank, look into natural G10. -Noticed your pivot washers are plastic, you should upgrade to phosphor bronze washers. They wear much better, way smoother, and can handle a lot more abuse. Also there won’t be any blade play/wiggle. - next you should look into a 4 way reversible pocket clip, and make the clips mounting holes compatible with aftermarket deep carry clips.

I mean razer blades are extremely useful, but I feel like you're better off learning to sharpen knives and you can carry various blades, including a razer, to fit whatever task you're doing. Carrying a razer is what got me into knives, and while I've gone a little overboard in my collection, I can definitely vouch for both!

I bought one from STANLEY that’s really solid. Bought this thing at least 2 years ago. Did corporations end up using some of your thoughts? Or did they just happen to get better since then? Cuz this thing is super solid. I did the unopened shake test, nothin. It’s got a bar to help open the thing that works perfectly. Then while open, there’s zero shaking of the blade. I’ve used it for at least a year or 2 now. I reversed the blade once when my wife used it on metal. But this thing has been awesome.

Mine has already completely fallen apart and all I use it for is opening boxes. Definitely not built to last. Without any signs of failure or stress it suddenly fell apart when I opened it the other day. The pin fell out and the whole blade assembly separated from the main body of the knife.

Really solid knife, feels great. But beware using the blade release button to open and close the blade! I wish it wasn't so easy to accidentally press it and send the razor flying. Also, it really snaps shut fast so watch your fingers! A more secure locking mechanism would be great for v2!

I had that wood grain one in the top right once. It had all kind of random bits sticking out near the blade which ended up ruining something I was working on while using the knife. It also had a metal piece inside that the blade would hit when closing the knife, ruining the blade. I got rid of it.
