I love the idea of a travel kitchen. Very recently, I've started traveling with a variety of seasonings and spices since most airbnb's don't have any, and it's motivated to me to cook more where ever I'm staying.

The trick is to buy the battery version of the Phillips toothbrush, and buy a rechargeable battery. There are rechargeable AAA batteries now where you can plug a usb-c cable directly into the battery, no extra charging device

It's wonderful to see you're smiling face again. I love the larger toiletry bag. I bet it will work out well for you. I also love that Filofax notebook, & you're right, not too thick. Best of all to have a husband that you can borrow from. Haha! Blessings to you!

Hi Maggie, it’s great to see you again. ❤ I love to see your travel gear finds. I once went on a four day trip and forgot my Apple Watch charger. That may not sound traumatic, but I really wanted to count my steps on that trip. 😂😂😂. I now have three travel Apple Watch chargers and have already added the one you mentioned to my basket, because apparently I’m a little crazy and want to make sure I have my bases covered. 😂

Hi Maggi 😊✨ Always a pleasure!! I just got home from 9+2 weeks away this summer and as it was to my parents and they are cleaning out their house…. I came home with max checked bags 😳😂 and packing light is my plan for our springtime trip. I left clothes & my smallest suitcase there as I know there will be a few things to bring home. So I am hoping to pack VERY lightly on the way over…. not including the two bags I borrowed that need to go back with me. So hahaha no special extra items for me!! But I enjoy watching yours. I really like the portable kitchen!

Thanks Maggi for the great video 🤗 I have added the camping equipment bag; mirror; toothpaste tube; Anker power bank, and toiletry bag to my wish list. I’m glad you got the Osprey foldaway backpack - I have this one and also the Osprey tote bag. Both of these I have had for years and the quality and usefulness are excellent. ❤

I bought the Osprey Packable Backpack last year as a Day Pack and used it on four trips now. I like that it's very light weight and compact to transport. Since it's flexible it fits comfortably everywhere you need it to like as a personal item under a plane seat for example. Because of the light support though, you quickly feel it on your shoulders if you load it up too heavy and in hot weather you'll get a sweaty back pretty fast from the material. Still, I like the Backpack a lot and would recommend it. I'm looking forward to your review of the new gear. Happy travels you two.

Re toothbrush: some power banks have an option to force trickle-charge for devices with low power draw; perhaps that is what’s needed? It’s usually a long-press of a button. YMMV

I have had one for 30 years - it goes with me on my business trips - I will drink tea at night & I now use the coffee sachets for a cappuccino - looking for extra sugars in cafes when I am eating out. I scored a few of similar pocket backpacks at a trade show & 1 always lives in my brief case as I attend conferences with stacks of papers to collect from stall holders.

I prefer the Hytric portable electric kettle. It adds a little weight, but soooo worth it for me. It has a timer. I can boil water, boil egg, make soups, pasta, instant MRE, or hot water for teas or Waka coffee. With specialty food needs, this is a lifesaver. 🫡

Nice travel gizmo video. I’ve had that small Anker battery bank with folding Lightning connector plug for a while and loved how I could put it in my pocket to recharge my earbuds, iPhoneSE or iPad if need be. My iPhone is getting so the battery no longer holds a charge all day long & the replacement for it isn’t out for 6 months (2025), so was the perfect little backup battery… until it died last week right before a trip I am now on. It will no longer make the connection from batter to device. I suspect the folding tip is the weak point. My replacement is a “Anker Power Bank, 10,000mAh Portable Charger with Built-in USB-C Cable and Lanyard, 22.5W Max Output with 2 USB-C and 1 USB-A Port”. It’s thinner than my other battery banks, the attach lanyard is usb-c to usb-c fast charging cable. I took a short Anker fast charging usb-c to Lightning cable & used the Velcro tie to attach it to the lanyard. So far it is working well. Also, I had gotten this for my transition from Lighting to usb-c as more and more gizmos go to USB-c.

So many of this things look handy, I’ll have to go looking for some of them. I purchased the Phillips One toothbrush and have to say both my husband and myself are disappointed with it. It simply vibrates a bit so I don’t think it works nearly as well as our regular electric toothbrushs. It may be slightly better than a manual brush tho so it depends on what you’re used to. I plan on purchasing electric toothbrushes in Europe while we’re there so we have them for trips and our 2nd home in the Azores. Safe travels!

Matador tubes are amazing, let me go on a small review. I bought them for travel, but when I returned home, I needed to finish up what was in there... and somehow I ended up using it permanently, refilling over and over again. Large toothpaste takes up so much space on my small sink, while Matador tube is tiny. Now, why this tube is great. Most people use too much toothpaste, like 5-6x times too much, covering the whole length of a brush with a fat worm of toothpaste. In reality, you need pea sized amount of toothpaste and using more does not give you any benefits. If I have a very minty toothpaste, I stick to that amount... Though I like to use 1.5-2 peas if toothpaste isn't very strong - otherwise I don't feel like I have brushed my teeth. However, the problem is twofold, I don't like my toothbrush touching the tube (seems unhygienic) BUT I need to evenly distribute toothpaste along the toothbrush, otherwise I'll be ramping up the foaming for half of my brushing time. Overbrushing teeth is bad, 2 mins of brushing with the right technique is enough. Matador tube solves all those problems, by dispensing a slimmer worm of toothpaste across the brush. Ofc, toothpaste companies have no business in consumer using less toothpaste so they'd never make the tube hole smaller, literally all of the marketing has fat worm of toothpaste, way too generous lol. Makes me angry as it contributes to the misinformation that you need half a bucket of toothpaste to brush your teeth. I would only improve two things: The cap is small, it'd be nice if it was attached to the tube. But I can see how it's difficult as it'd make it more expensive to produce. I am worried I'm gonna lose it, and I had sinks with large enough gaps to drop the cap into the sink drain. 🙀 The cap tip is narrow, you can make the tube stand but it is wobbly. I'd love if the cap end was a bit wider to support it's weight. I would add a few grams, but it'd be well worth it. I've been extensively using one black tube for a year now, and shows very little wear and tear... I used one white tube for face cream when travelling but I don't use it daily as my face cream comes in a tube already. So I have 3 Matador tubes to spare, I think it will last me well over 10 years to destroy all 4 of them. I am considering buying another 4 just to hoard them in case they stop producing them, but I have resisted this temptation so far. 😹 I really enjoy your videos, thank you.

I cannot give up my Sonicare Maggi. Just returned from Greece and I had a heavy bag. Going to have to cut somewhere else. Wet brush makes a travel size fyi. My packing struggle is always toiletries. I’m higher maintenance than I want to be!

yeah alcohol burner. good way to accidentally burn down the hotel too... They have safety measures in most hotels and I guess you just simply overlooked those rules. Please don't use candles and burners in hotels!

I ❤ your mobile kitchen in a dedicated pack. Great idea! And that new Anker charger is going on my wishlist. I know what you mean about toothbrush power. I love my Braun-Oral-B. I took it on a 3 week trip to Scotland on its original charge. It lasted! But its power was faded by 50% at the end. Even so, it was still way more powerful than the stupid Quip brush I got once. 3 weeks was a good test!

Anker powerbank integrated cable stops working after some time, so I wouldn't rely just on that cable, always have some other that you can insert into the power bank.

Can you use a usb a to usb c adapter and leave it on the toothbrush cable?
@andreslucero81

Came here to suggest the same thing. An adapter *should* work for charging the toothbrush, or they might need to try a usb-c cable with a power rating that matches the toothbrush’s input rating. I suspect there’s a mismatch somewhere, which is why it won’t charge.
