I'm in the same spot man! I discovered the Epi Lee Malia RD Artisan back in February, fell in love at first sight, decided I wanted to pull the trigger but found out they were a limited run back in 2017 only 1000 shipped to the US. zzounds has some B stock and blemished still new for a discounted price but I wanted a nice, mint new one. Finally found one after a few weeks of hunting, new in mint condition from Chicago Music Exchange, they were wanting full retail, but talked them down a bit to $850 and got free shipping. Literally two weeks after this I was laid off due to Covid 😅😂😂 but man, I have no regrets! This is by far the nicest Epi I have ever owned or that they have made. Full custom Gibson USA pups and components stock, Indo made. It's great! And it's been making a great quarantine buddy lmao.

The difference between the body dimensions of the two guitars has more to do with the time and place of their manufacture than different "official" shapes of the two guitars' designs, in my opinion. Anyway, I know that my 1966 Fender Jaguar and my 1966 Fender Electric XII have identical bodies (with different pickups and hardware, of course), and I suspect that Jazzmasters of the period matched that same size and shape, as well. Also- with the Jaguar there are nice mods you can do with the switches: You can substitute the slide switches for pickup selection to double-throw (on-on)- type switches that look the same as the regular ones, and use the down (formerly off) switch positions together to produce a series circuit for the two pickups. You can also wire the "rhythm" circuit to "hear" whatever you select in the lower circuit (instead of only the neck pickup), and you'll get enough sounds to almost need a pilot's license to play it.

I have the exact same Squier Jazzmaster - even the same finish and really like mine a lot!! Exactly, these are not P90 pickups and are quite bright. That's why I like the Rhythm circuit which gives them a darker and thicker sound. As I understand, it has its own capacitor thus creating the different tone. And yes, I use mine with gain to get a humbucker type of sound just like you suggested. I did not have to install a mastery bridge and I have no problem with buzzing and I even use 9 gauge.

Ryan, the rhythm switch is the neck pickup only, running on a 1 Meg volume and 50k (not 500) tone pot. That's basically equivalent to only allowing about 2 out of 10 on the lead circuit using the neck pickup, but it still sounds different because of the pot value.

Just bought & received my Squier FSR CV Jaguar, in purple, which I don't dislike, also it was on a good deal at Ander***s :) Anyhoo, the whole thing needed a setup which is to be expected as I am about to re-string with Ernie-Ball "Mega-Slinkys" (I play bass, I have no problem with heavy gauge strings)....after I've polished up the frets, they are very scratchy/rough. Anyway, I was very much influenced in getting the Jag after Ryans reviews etc. Then I got to thinking that these 'influencers' (for that is what they are) could possibly "influence" companies who continue to use excessive amounts of plastic in their packaging.......by calling them out and proposing that they go with more paper/hemp/flax based packaging? I recently bought a new bass, a G&L L2000 CLF and there was no superfluous plastic in the packaging. Anyway, just a thought......keep up the great reviews....I also come here for the surfy-vibe riffs ;-)

I used "modelers" (small) files and notched the centers of each saddle. the raised the bridge as touch to compensate, use nines on it.. they do not pop or or move. Zero dollar cost. if you want to go back to the STOCK look? Remove the grub screws, flip it over reinsert.. VIOLA! Also did the mod to the trem, removing and re-inserting the one screw from ABOVE to BELOW,, to remove interference. Easy stuff. The Squier VM is all but impossible to beat!
