Really enjoy your video's, doing a trip to Namibia in July and have watched all your Nam videos and have booked a few places based on your recommendations, Alte Brucke, Spitzkoppe as well as Sossusvlei. Will eagerly watch you Botswana trip as that is next after Namibia.

Thanks Siggie! You will enjoy your trip in Namibia. All those places are very beautiful and very quiet at the moment. Unfortunately I was not able to do the entire Namibia, but I'll go back end of the year to finish it. Correct Botswana mid June, as long as Covid conditions don't change. I'm pretty excited for that trip!!!

Well done, I like your build and the keeping it simple and low budget. You like Toyota, I like Nissan. Both excellent trucks. And all over Africa. Enjoy your travels. I'll be following your channel. 👍

Lovely and informative video. I think this will be my first overlanding vehicle that I will build. I am inspired. Simple setup. Just exactly what you need. I am watching from Swaziland

Glad I can help. That was my idea, start with a basic setup, learn the ropes and maybe one day build something bigger if I want to, but I am very happy at the moment🙂 Thanks for the support, I'll make a turn there one day

Hey Nick. I have owned almost the entire TOYOTA 4X4 lineup over 20 years. From the old Hilux 2.2 and 2.4 SFA bakkies, the Hilux 2.7i 4x4 (same as yours), the Hilux 3.0 D4D, the Hilux 4.0 V6 and now the Land Cruiser 4500 EFi with NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER apart from normal maintenance... You chose the best "tool" for the job!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Riaan! took a bit of a chance with an older vehicle, but so far so good👍 also I saw so many of them in Botswana, that I will not have a problem with repairs&parts

Too late for you now, but just a thought; you mentioned that drawers are not the ‘automatic’ choice for everyone. Rather than drawers on the bottom, throwing gear on top, which is the norm, what about keeping drawers raised in the canopy and putting your heavier gear underneath? Your tent, sleeping gear etc might weigh more than what’s in the drawers, and you’ll still have a flat top surface to put other gear in boxes etc.

I have 2 hiluxes... A 95, with the 3L diesel, and a 2002 with the 3rz fe Gasoline. The 3rz its a great engine, its not Very popular here in Brazil, because of the gas prices, but its as realiable as any diesel Hilux from that period, and more powerful. Great video, you just got 1 new subscriber

Awh Gabriel Im jealous cause I only have one😂 in my opinion the older models are the true legends! did 1000km yesterday, zero complaints from my hilux. Petrol price pretty steep here in SA as well, but a lot better in Namibia where I live and in Botswana. Thnx for subscribing and having you onboard for 10 years through Africa with a 21yr old Hilux!

Nice, a Jeep was one of my initial options on the list, they are beasts offraod! but unfortunately not as popular in Africa, so I had to stick to what we have here.

Hey Nick,We have the same hilux 2700i.My question is why didn't you get the Diesel one wich i think is better on fuel consumption because i know the 2700i is heavy on petrol.
@NickfrNamibia
2 жыл бұрын
short answer, it is the one that I could find that was in the best condition. I spent a lot of time comparing the pro's and cons of diesel vs petrol and in the end it equalled out for me. This model is still ok, on avg I get 7.5km/l, even better on gravel when I drive slower, but obviously much worse when i go into 4x4. Its the one after this, the "bull nose" that has very bbad consumption
