I am so happy about your successes! I can't think of anyone I would want to support more, and you spoil your patrons! None of the other creators I am a patron of post as often as you do, and I never expect creators to have extra content on patreon really so it is such a lovely surprise. Patreon is such a wonderful idea truly, because even if each person can only help out a little, it adds up to mean so much for so many artists. I hope you have the most magical Japan trip

It's so crazy (to me) that you posted this today. I just found you and started watching you on KZitem a couple days ago. Yesterday I was super curious about Patreon and talking to my husband about it and then today you answer all of my questions! How did you know?? ;) but really, I love your videos so much, I have another job right now but I am working towards being a freelance illustrator. All of your openness about how you make a living and all of your highs and lows between sketching outside and worrying about deadlines makes me feel that I can do it, like it isn't just luck and talent that makes someone successful, it's all the hard work you put in. Thank you so much for all your videos ❤

No pressure policy. Good Policy. When I discuss my patreon ideas with my friends, at one point they're always like "Oh, I still need to support you!" And I am always immediately like "You don't have to support me, just because you know I have a patreon and we are friends! DO it when you fell like it, not because you think you have to" And because of that, I have like.... ONE Patron, but I am perfectly fine with it... because even if I'll never get more than 1-5 Patrons... I know at least, that they do it because They really enjoy my stuff, like me as a creative person and have the means to support me.This is also very important. Not everybody has the means to give away 3 dollar a month, even if it doesn't seem much or they really really like you. And sometimes you simply love to many different artists XD

Fran I really hope you see this comment. I found a sketchbook that is for alcohol markers it DOESN'T bleed through to the back at all. I'm not that great with markers yet and I would love it if an expert like yourself could look at this book. It's $12.91 on Amazon in America not sure what it is i. Other places but probably not too much different. It's the Crescent Cardboard Co RENDER no show-through lay flat sketch book. I got 8.5"x11 but it does come in A5. I know u like A5. I hope u try it and let us know what u think. The cover is hardish. I mean like plastic hard but not board hard if u know what I mean.

Only one thing is not clear with Patreon: it is possible to access all the content without paying? I know, it is depends on the users, but there are lots of places in the World where that 1-2 USD is a big amount, but the content is required. So, if your patrons are join to you, they can access your stuffs immediately, but their account charged once per month, so they can remove their account meantime from Patreon and in next month join to your channel again, and when they accessed to your new content, before paying they remove their account, etc... Is it possible?! Thanks for reply!

I'm happy you've had such success. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I should do it, my experience isn't good for raising money. When I had cancer in 2014, my kids set up a GFM and the only ones who gave me anything were my pink sisters in my support group. I had them take it down, because no one I'd known for years offered any support or even a happy-meal worth in donation. I was going through such a difficult time it was upsetting, since most of the time I went in alone to my appts. I'm afraid to get a Patreon cause at this point I'm barely able to create much content at this time. It's so difficult, the water bill was mostly paid by donating plasma. Still have a bit left over to pay, but this isn't good. So I'm trying to figure out what I can do. Being disabled isn't helping, but there has to be help somewhere to assist me to get out of the situation I'm in.

Hi Fran, I came across your channel today and I really love it. You have been so helpful through your videos. I paint. I started selling from 2014 (don't know whether I could say professionally because it's only been a few and mostly to people I know) and I get like 1 or 2 clients per year. They commission me to paint something particular and I paint it. But you can understand that in commission you can't paint exactly what you want. So anyways I wanted to start an online shop. And I looked at stay and society six and the likes and I got really scared to start. Registering to PayPal freaked me out. I don't fully know the process and I don't know anyone who knows it. I live in India and I don't know if I am eligible to register to patrons website. I saw your video about 'sacred to sell' and since then I have started thinking. Keep up the good work and thanking for helping though your videos.

I'm really enjoying your video - I also just started reading Amanda Palmer's book, coincidentally :)

Hi Fran! Just wanted to say I absolutely adore your artwork and your videos. You're so inspiring and encouraging, and it's fantastic to see how far you've come in pursuing your passion. My sister is also a huge fan and she's literally flying to Japan right now! You actually played a huge part in helping her find the confidence to open up her own etsy shop so a side thank you to you! If your paths cross, she will certainly say hello! xx

I had a Patreon for a bit last year, but it just didn't make sense to me to keep it up, because I only had one patron and a couple of hundred followers on my social media accounts. I feel like it really only makes sense if you have a couple thousand followers at least. Your dedication is very inspiring. I've also read The Art of Asking. Thanks for all your hard work :)
