Give me a plant that doesn’t like to completely dry out and I’ll show you how fast it’ll die in my care 🫣 All jokes aside, I’m proud of my philodendron micans growth! I tend to water when the leaves start to turn pink which is a sign it’s been underwatered and then I fully saturate which overtime has caused the moisture and nutrients of the soil to not hold onto to water anymore. I used an indoor potting mix with perlite, coco chips, and orchid bark. I added mycorrhizal fungi to help prevent water stress, provide water and nutrition that it’s lost, and help with any potential transplant shock. If you also notice your soil is bone dry after top watering, you can also bottom water to hydrate the soil from beneath but mine was beyond that part where bottom and top watering was going to help. Here’s to hoping she can continue to grow with less yelling at one another.

I really wanna make the switch to semi hydro I think. I'm scared to tho. I'm one of those that doesn't love change, and I feel like I've dropped soooo much money on my plant addiction that it would absolutely devastate me if they didn't make it thru the switch over. What type of plants do best in semi hydro in your opinion? I am big into philodendrons at the moment and a lot of them (the climbers, anyways), I wouldn't change over, simply bc I've got them on moss poles with the soil below, so that they can climb to their little hearts content. I definitely wanna experiment with the semi hydro some tho! I like the aesthetic honestly. Andddd it would be reallll nice to not have as many fungus gnats to deal with! Cheers to your plant journey! ✌🏽💚

I know you didn't ask for my opinion buuuuut here it is anyway 😂... I started switching some of my plants to semi hydro during the spring and they've done really well. I've got heart leaf philodendrons, Hoya, monstera adonsonii in leca. They all started to thrive once switched over. Especially my Hoya. Don't be afraid. Try just switching one or two and see how it goes. I'm sure you will love it too!

@@meganingold1089 Thx! Ok so I suggest philodendrons, monstera Deliciosa, and sing Ghoniem, to start off with if you are worried about the transfer. But when you get use to it Alocasias do AMAZING in semi hydro. I also like having then on moss poles in leca, the only thing is you just have to be carful to make shore none of it falls in the leca. I noticed that the pot it was in had a raised drainage hole. I have some trailing plants in a pot like that, not long after putting it in that particular pot,it just went downhill. The leaves went yellow the stems were soft,I end up taking the whole plant out and noticed that it was wet as anything. I was a bit suspicious, but went on and put another healthy plant in a same type of pot,we guess what, it also started going downhill. It’s the pot,it sits in about an inch or more of water the whole time, doesn’t dry out as it doesn’t get any oxygen.I got all those pots together and drilled lots on drainage holes where the soil can dry out enough and get oxygen! Good luck..

I have at least 12-15 different ones right now and they are all different growers I feel like... there's the super slow self headers, the equally as slow creeper crawlers, and then my climbers tend to grow a bit faster. I have found that all of mine, no matter what, like to stay moist. They are NOTTT at all happy with me if I let them dry out. I do not have a micans yet, I will tho. ✌🏽💚
