I think the big disconnect with the edc world is functional vs hobbyist. Neither is wrong but it definitely comes across different when you have someone coming in to the world of EDC as a functional standpoint and meeting with someone who is in it for a hobby.

I agree with most of what you said. I pretty much have the knifes I want already. If I ever buy more, it’s only budget knives that I wanna try out or like the design of. I don’t spend the premium price anymore cuz I already have knives that are $200-$300+. I carry them, but I see myself using my budget knives more because they’re inexpensive. Same with my flashlight, I got a microstream for like $20 3 years ago and have never replaced it. There’s no reason to because it does what I need and I don’t need 20 small flashlights. When it comes to the pouch, I’m glad you like it and it’s worth the price tag for you. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. For me tho I don’t see where that price tag is coming from. I can get a pico fire pro that’s almost the exact same thing for $20 that has very good materials and almost identical interior to that all good pouch. Great video!

Hey thanks so much. I agree with you completely, honestly I'm too scared to use my $200 knives on anything hardcore!

Great video, and I do agree on the Notorious AGP pouch. My favorite pouch by a mile and super intuitive to pack out. That said Viperade came out with the VE30 I want to get my hands on, similar internal layout as AGP. Overall though I buy for function and will get the tool that will do the job at the lowest price. Will spend if the more expensive option best fits the use case.

Right! Viperade is killing it with pouches right now, and I can’t wait to get my hands on some of them. Great comment, thanks for watching!

I agree. Each person has their own sense of budget. I bought a Walmart $7 knife and after I cleaned it up, I'm very pleased with it, as I am with my Vosteed raccoon, it all what works for you

I used a $7 Walmart knife for a loooong time brother! You’re right - it’s what works best for you. Nobody else is using your gear but you.

I have felt this more and more recently, a lot of items that I have I got for cheap or for an honest review, but those few items that I outright purchase are almost never "budget". I afford all my trinkets with no problem, and I am by no means financially struggling, but my three most expensive EDC related purchases are the Leatherman Arc, The Benchmade 940, and the Spyderco PM2 salt in Magnacut. Those three together cost roughly $600. I carry the Arc and the PM2 currently, but now I feel like I should just retire from the hobby because I have nothing left to gain. I have shifted towards a more budget approach to EDC more recently because I have learned that cost does not make quality. Don't get me wrong, I love my PM2, but for 220$? My BHQ order came with a $65 Bestech Goodboy knife (Because of their current promotion) and that thing is awesome. Now I'm trying to focus on things like med-kits pill pouches, and car emergency kits because I find myself using those as much as my PM2, mostly helping others, but helping others feels infinity better than cutting a box with a $200 Knife. I never have looked down at people no matter their standings, but I almost feel like I've lost touch with reality, because I see people around me struggling financially and here I am buying new stuff when I have perfectly good stuff that would suffice. Maybe saving that money and using it for more humanitarian efforts would in fact bring me more happiness and make someone else happier at the same time. I don't know, just some ramblings.

Hey I agree with everything you said! “Losing touch” may be what I most identify with. Can my money be used in better ways? Absolutely. But I think everyone can say that. Great comment man, thank you for contributing.

Do you have a beer bomb and do you thats worth buying or is it just a hype EDC item?
@LandmanEDC
6 ай бұрын
That was sent to me free of charge - but to answer your question, and I think I said this in the video - if you find it useful and you can afford it, then go for it. Hype or no hype. Have I bought things out of hype or FOMO? Yeah, sure. But again, who hasn't at one point with anything? If I want something, and I weigh the cost and know that I can buy it, sometimes it doesn't matter if I will actually use it or if it's the hype or not. This is my hobby. Hobbies are meant to be enjoyed, not agonized over. Is there hype items and EDC pocket trash out there that serves zero purpose? Sure. But it's kind of like fashion - doesn't change who I am, and it hopefully doesn't affect how I relate to others, but it's just stuff. It's just things that make me feel good for having. Really appreciate your question, thanks!

Personally I think that companies that blatantly copy another company's product like the Ridge Wallet should not be supported. Sure, it's nice to be able to buy a $10 knockoff when you are hard up... but that's not their design... they didn't make that. They stole it. If you work hard and save up... you can afford a ~$100 Ridge wallet. And you'll be supporting the actual inventors and innovators in this field.

If The Ridge has nothing to offer over the 10$ copies, it means their product isn’t worth more than 10$.
@LandmanEDC

I tend to agree with both of you - and the wallet you’ll see a review on soon isn’t a copy of the Ridge. I shouldn’t have said that. It is an inexpensive style of wallet much like the Ridge, very similar, but not like one at all.
