Over in Australia they are determined to eradicate fire ants. Unknown if your ants are the same, anyway how I get rid of ants when I don't want them is it to put loads of CINNAMON all over the place. It does not kill them, it just gets them to move away to somewhere else. Also, Queensland blue pumpkins are large plants, and it is difficult to cut open the fruit. I prefer Butternut pumpkins.

Nettles indicate a nutrient (nitrogen I believe) rich soil and since you used to have a lot of those, the plants that have done very well likely like a nitrogen rich soil. Oh and regarding the watering in the greenhouse, I can really recommend the “Irrigatia Solar Automatic Watering System”. Quite easy to set up, and you just need a barrel of water and sun for the solar power. It waters more if it’s sunny, since the battery gets more charge then. I recently was away for a week and my very thirsty cucumbers on my very hot glazed in balcony have still been thriving! Worth every penny. I really like your vlogs, I have watch from the start and love to sit down with a cuppa and just relax and get inspired.

If you plant the tomatoes quite deeply in the ground (like, 30cm deep), then you'll only have to water them occasionally, but more deeply. That way they'll have greater access to water deeper in the soil; I've found mine tend to hold out better during hot weather when I'm on vacation. They need to be started a bit earlier than you normally would (so that they get the height to bury them deeply), but it's a nice solution to overheating.

I loved watching your update of the plot. I’ve been watching from the beginning. You’ve worked hard and it’s paid off. Everything looks amazing. A tip for the fig tree - find a permanent spot and plant it in the ground and it will fruit and not drop off. You have rich fertile soil around your plot so it will grow beautifully. Happy growing 😊🍆🌶️🥕🌽🫑🥦🥒🫛🫐🧅🥔

WOW what luscious growth - the only problem is the weeds take advantage as well - I think you have gone overboard with the number of squash plants you have planted out. Most squash plants grow huge - perhaps grow your flowers in a dedicated flower bed - brassica cages are a must for your brassica bed and yes they grow tall. Blue arches of water pipes are a good idea and they can be extended upwards as the plants grow by inserting canes in the ground and then repositioning the blue pipes over the top - make sure you leave plenty of netting along the sides for you to be able to make the crashes higher - your carrots are amazing, perhaps next year put more compost into the tank so the sides don't shelter the sun out - the tomato pots might do better stood on long gravel trays to provide a water reservoir they are thirsty plants Keep on gardening 👍

17:54 Your little Kuri squash look like mine in terms of colour. Very yellow. I was presuming they are fruit that hadn't been pollinated properly so were going yellow and would eventually rot/drop off. I will be happy if that's not the case. The lack of pollinators is making me worried about my squash although I am getting courgettes growing now so maybe it's ok.

Hi Seren just wanted to congratulate you on your efforts so far considering how bad the plot was when you received it it is looking fantastic 🎉 just a thought on your greenhouse watering situation, I have been using a sola irigation system that runs itself and is linked to a water butt so you don't need a tap. I got mine off amazon and has 15 watering stations which should suit your greenhouse perfectly. You won't need to worry about watering if you are away from the plot only keeping the barrel topped up. It was only £30 which I think is quite good price and it has paid for itself so far. I just water on top if its really hot, maybe worth considering. Look forward to seeing your harvesting, have a feeling its going to be insane. Also wood chip or old fashioned lawn mover for your paths 😂 it's unbelievable how much things have took off after all the rain. Congratulations again xx 😊

Ask at a cafe or bakery what do they do with their large plastic containers, cut a 20litre or 10 litre drum in half and place plant pots in and back fill up with 1 or 2 inches of water. Work out how much water the plants use in a week. Oil comes in drums, fillings quite in drums as well.

Your plot is amazing! I've moved away from UK and struggle with the hot conditions & lack of rain where I am, everything on your plot is so green & growing! In the UK I only had success with tomatoes when I switched to self watering pots. I had two large long containers, water reservoir at bottom, space for 3 tomatoe pots each, and a wicking string. Worth the money as I never managed to water evenly enough to avoid blossom end rot.

1 part borax, 1 part sugar, add enough warm water to dissolve. You want a consistency of pancake syrup. Pour into shallow container (lids work well) and make ground level. The ants will eat, take to hive and share and will be gone.

If you want to keep the grass paths, battery powered strimmers are fairly cheap and means you only need to take a battery with you, or there is push mowers but they require good flat ground and the grass to be kept short

I like the grass paths would just need regular cutting and strimming, not sure it’s worth it when you might prefer to plant some seedlings harvest some vegetables, get one with a new project. Wood chip paths need topping up every so often. Curry plant stopped ants nesting. Any tips for growing snap dragons the are straight, never had one that grows straight up always a bend (which ruins it for cut flowers)
