If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not LOVE, I am but a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge of the world, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not LOVE, I am nothing. If I give away all that I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not LOVE, I gain nothing. LOVE is patient and LOVE is kind; LOVE does not envy or boast; LOVE is not arrogant or rude. LOVE does not insist on its own way; LOVE is not irritable or resentful; LOVE does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. LOVE bears all things, believes all things, hopes in all things, endures in all things. True LOVE never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. And now these three remain Faith, Hope and LOVE; but the greatest of these is LOVE.

Lilly, you are definitely on to something preping for a food shortage, one just has to read the data. Headline in US newspaper today says “crops wither under scorching heat” and cites problems around the world noting Brazil’s corn crop and Russian wheat crops. Furthermore, year over year numbers are getting dramatically worse. If you lay this on top of Covid, you begin to think a long term solution toward self sufficiency makes good sense. Thanks for the inspiration to get moving!

People have been preparing since the beginning of time. This is not new. Joseph the son of Jacob who ruled Egypt also prepared. He stored grains for 7 years. He knew famine was coming. Anyone with sense can see there are ebbs and flows to food supplies and we are not immune to famine even today. Really it was our grandparents generation that regularly gardened, hunted, preserved including canning. They also foraged for food. In their day there weren't EVEN grocery stores! They went out to the field to get supper. We have been spoiled by fast and processed food and think that processing and preparing is some wonderful new fangled thing. It is NOT. What is new is people dependant on government and stores for their food. Never in the history of humanity have we been so dependant. It is exactly what they want. I don't read papers. Or watch tv. I don't suggest anyone do it. It is mostly lies. Brainwashing. Just do you and do what you need to put away enough food and remember we really are not so different from the animals. They have to forage and stockpile too.

@@adewit5366 no body said she couldn't or shouldn't eat them. Basically meant that they're sauce tomatoes that are best for canning to make sauce. They're meaty. Less pulp and liquid. Perfect for paste and sauces. Not that they were inedible. Of course they can still be eaten, and eaten raw. But in contrast to beefsteak tomatoes, which are huge, juicy slicing for sandwiches and eating type tomatoes...these can also be used for sauces and paste. They're tomatoes and tomatoes are edible. But it is the TEXTURE and flavor that determines the best USE of something. Like pairing a wine with fish, red meat, white meat, etc. Of course you can drink any wine at any time you like BUT best use/pairing is something that should be considered. That was the point of the paste tomatoes comment. Don't complicate things. "Yeah, no you can still eat them no problem." Nobody said there was a PROBLEM eating ANY of them.

Orchard Mason bees (Osmia Lignaria) usually do not reuse nesting holes because they do not clean out previously used holes. To cultivate them it's best to have two complete sets of bee blocks. After the bees emerge from one set, take it down and re-drill the nesting holes and save it to put up early next year. Important point Osmia Lignaria prefer a nesting hole 5/16 inch in diameter (7.9 mm). If you drill 1/4 inch holes (6.35 mm) the orchard mason bee will lay only male eggs. Osmia Lignaria lay only male eggs in the outter most 3 inches (7.6 cm) so you need deep nesting holes to enable the propagation of the species. They have to be dead-end holes. In North America the orchard mason bees begin emerging from nesting holes in February and all the adult have died by June 1, leaving only the larvae in the nesting holes. That is relevant to North American orchard mason bees, your mileage may vary. (In USA we say 'your mileage may vary' to mean that your results might be different. In Austria do you say 'your kilometer-age may vary' ?)

Roma tomatoes are a determinate variety, so they grow up one meter and put all tomatoes at once (they do ripe at different times, though…). The trick is putting drip irrigation, because the fine hairs of the roots are the ones that absorb calcium and if they get dry they can’t absorb calcium (and other minerals). And they do get dry easily, because these roots are more superficial than perhaps other varieties. Hope this helps. Lovely garden, congrats!

That's awesome Lily. I used to do the same with my mother. We had gardens everywhere we lived. We would grow many varieties of tomatoes. Eggplant, carrots, brussels sprouts, melons and squashes. I had friends who were barbers and I'd go there and sweep up and collect the hair trimmings. When it came time to turn over the garden I would dump the hair trimmings in the ground so that over the Winter they would start to breakdown and fertilize the soil.

Hi Lilly. Im a long time subscriber. Just wanted to tell you that you can correct the acidity in soil by adding something simple like baking soda . It has alot of alkaline in it. There is also a small ph meter that you can buy that tells you where you stand on ph level just by poking it in the ground. Doesnt cost alot but it works really well. This is what I have used for many years. Baking soda works well in your body also. I have been taking 1 tblsp. in 8 oz. Of water for 31 years. When the ph is right in your body you cant catch anything.....including cancer. The doctors wont tell you this because they cant make money on it. This is an old farm remedy. Lilly, as a prepper we need to have a staple that is high in nutrition. Something that contains a high level of protein and essential amino acids. Have you considered growing dry beans? Here at my garden I chose black eye peas. They fill the nutritional needs and take very little space when you chose the pole/vining kind. They are heavy producers and are easy to pick and store. Other benefits are they are drought tolerant, actually they love hot weather and I think we're going to get a lot more hot Summers. Cooked and then add a jar of stewed tomato's, YUM! The kind I have chosen is Quickpick Pinkeye Southern Peas. Just a suggestion. Love your videos!
