A lady in our group, Sir Robin Hugh Gibb, was in the 4th row at this concert. This is the concert where the standing ovation was so long. Robin was very special to her due to Robin’s battle with cancer because her husband died shortly after this concert with cancer and presently she is fighting cancer and depends as she calls him her ‘ Robin Angel ‘ to help her be as strong in her battle as he was with his battle! Robin was the lead singer in their earlier years before their break up. Also Robin played five or six instruments that he taught himself to play.

This song was the first I ever heard of the Bee Gees when it was on the radio. I was maybe 11 or 12 at the time and I was hooked with the beat. Now as a 60 plus year old adult, the words are so spot on delivering a clear message. Fantastic!

The rhythm comes from a bridge they drove over everyday on the way to the studio in Mismi. One of them commented I like the sound of the van going over the bridge the others liked the idea and they the song almost finished by the end of the bridge. They also had to ask what Jive Tslkin meant as they iiked the sound of it but didn’t know what it meant.

Probably cause they were from England/Australia and they had just arrived in America. I would be a challenge to understand American slang.

fascinating you tube video showing how the sound engineers audio recorded that base line from the car that drive across a longass Florida bridge, then came back to the studio, and literally strung the magnetic tape around the room, spliced the ends together, and had an endless moving tape fed into the tape player/recorder, cause using a computer wasn't available

When this song came out the BG's couldn't buy a hit, so they released it as a single on 45 without the bands name on it. People got curious and bought it and loved it. Then couldn't believe it was the BG's they were listening to ;)

After they had big hits like How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and Run to Me in the early 70s, they hit a dry spell and couldn't get any air play. They honed their r&b sound on Mr. Natural, but it was not well received. This is when they went to Miami to work on Main Course. In 1975 Jive Talking was sent to radio stations without their name on the records. Once on air personalities heard it they contacted the record company and were surprised to find it was the "broken heart" Bee Gees. Main Course was magnificent.

I've been in love with this track since I first heard it (at 14...), back in 1975. Mo tickling that bass to perfection, the tight harmonies, the synthesizer, and that clapping (accompanied by the cow bell...) - Pure Gold!

Hey, did you guys hear Barry's new album Greenfields hit #1 on the UK charts. Hope it climbs like that here. Chad, you should check it out. It is Barry doing duets with country stars and bands. Some are redoing Bee Gees songs and some are songs Barry wrote but never released. At least that's the word. I've been listening to my cd since it was released. Awesome! He did "Words" with Dolly Parton.

The Bee Gees got the sound from going over a bridge that kept making the clacking noise. They took the beat and was originally going the song Dive talking until told Jive Talking was slang for lying. They then changed the name of the song to Jive Talking

Too hear them talk about how they come up with Jive Talking is so Adorable...being new to America they wrote the song without knowing what Jive Talking meant lol Their True self and true heart they shared of themselves is forever touching. Barry got that beat from crossing a bridge😁 The best ever.

dubby dubby dub dubby dubby dub .... Jive Talkin will always be one of my favorite Bee Gees songs!! No meaning - just fun. This song introduced a new US audience to the reinvented Bee Gees in 1975. Their management put it out with a plain white label to get DJ’s to play it, thinking that they might not be interested if they thought it was going to be the 60’s Bee Gees they thought they knew. The song was popular enough to make it onto 1978’s Saturday Night Fever soundtrack/movie. This video was made for BBC tv, so it’s not live and is cut off at the end. Maurice’s iconic baseline!!! And the keyboards by BLUE WEAVER (in white shirt) who is still living and working. He co-wrote the song SONGBIRD with Barry that’s also on the Main Course album. Please react to the Bee Gees songbird.

Food and Music are Color Blind !!! Everyone wants to be politically correct, so much so that they forget how to be Honest with themselves and others.. Say what you mean and mean what you say, but Don't be insulting or cruel about it... That is what my take on this song is...
