Good info 👍 I used a 6700HQ + 970M clevo laptop back when I was doing pentesting. Compared to that, modern laptop hardware has gone next level in just the last few years. What I had was plenty for running a few virtual machines, I just needed at least 32GB RAM for Burp suite (thanks Java!)

Awesome suggestions Marcus! I just got an MSI Creator M16 laptop with an intel i7 cpu, 16gb ram and an RTX 3050 gpu. It works amazing for virtualization thankfully running multiple VMs, and while I'm learning how to hack it provides everything I need with no struggle! I'd definitely suggest a similar spec for anyone looking to make an investment into a tech career and who can't afford a full desktop build. It was $1,400 dollars but so far I've had 0 issues with it and it actually got me a job opportunity into the tech field.

Let’s not overlook second-hand or refurb laptops. Often you can get them at a fraction of the price. Just make sure to run hardware diagnostics before pulling the trigger (especially on the battery and display). I snagged a perfectly capable Ryzen-equipped Asus Zenbook with 16gb/512gb for $500 off marketplace from a local private seller. A student who bought it last year and was looking to upgrade her laptop for a larger screen model.

2:32 Long time (quiet) cooling fan here, air cooling can actually be quieter and perform similarly at least on the CPU, provided you go with one of the most expensive and most massive ones, like Noctua NH-D15 or beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4. GPU is a different story though, unless you live in a high noise-floor area. Then it's the same: have enough airflow and you're done for most setups. Custom WC: It is only prone to leakage if you are inexperienced (dear reader, if you ask, you are,) if you aren't triple careful with hard-line loops, if you are unlucky enough with a component or you have an accident. It will probably happen at one point, though you might get lucky. Residue is ONLY if you use one of those colored liquids, especially if you use opaque or swirly. Even the manufacturers warn about those lasting less than a year. They do look cool though. Going with clear is dull but should not produce residue, unless there is some manufacturing/formulation problems. Which might happen. Speaking of clear, stay clear of clear soft tubing. Plasticiser still leaks from those and you will get gunk, learned that the hard way, though caught it in time. Black rubber hose is best, if also ugliest. And you are advised to drain, clean and re-assemble them every few years. Yes, full disassembly of individual blocks, cleaning inside as well. Hope you put the gaskets in good and tightened just right, or you will get leaks. So it's a massive hassle. It's also lot of pain to plan and set up (tube bending radius, extra angle adaptors, planning the reservoir placement that may even nuke some of your PCIe slots in many cases, and putting in a well-placed drain port) and way more expensive. Like it's not exactly out-of-the-norm to spend $500-1k on it for a 1GPU+1CPU+1-2rads setup. Oh, and GPUs with WC blocks are double the price or DIY for ~+50%. Only do it if you want to have like 4 power-hungry GPUs in 4 slots and have zero other options.

The thing about overclocking is not just about stability (guess why the computer restarts if you go over the top). You can actually brick/burn some components if you play too much with the settings (min/max current, frequency ),.If you go and learn the physics/math around it you realize that the power consumption (and thus heat dissipation) has a relation of something like ~f^3 . meaning that the cpu temprature etc. will get higher very quickly. but still, it's a nice function for the motherboard and/or memory sticks (xmp)

I actually recommend somewhat customizing the air ventilation on a high end laptop if anyone decides to get one, as someone who owned a gaming laptop, I wish I did this so it wouldn’t throttle at half an fps in anything that requires more intense graphics, it’s a huge pain. Also, as for water coolers, they do help a bit especially with noise but imo a hacking pc should just be something quick you can pop up to 1337 pwn, so watercooling might not be worth it (especially with a custom loop, those things will require more work than calcium mines in the soviet union)

Water cooling isn't purely for looks, a vas majority are but there are some that are required and if you know what you doing and pressure tested, also choose right components and coolant you can run it for years with proper maintenance without leakage or any other issues. I remember watching you talking in a show, where you were saying how fed up you were with youtube kind of not giving you the respect that you deserve. The problem with KZitem is that some content creators made KZitem in a way that if you aren't giving them something, they not going to subscribe to your channel. It sucks, they ruined it for all of us. The first time I hear your name and what you did with the iPhone, I googled you and found all your socials and started following you since those days. You are above any of these so-called "hackers" that are out there just milking the name for their personal gain on KZitem, not TCM he is legit. I want to suggest you something that may help you kick up your channel for real. You can start putting up videos of you doing CTFs. Make a series like "In the road to become HTB number 1" or "how to get me into the 10% in HTB". Using this technique not only will you have daily content but you are giving your followers something, and is something you don't even have to think much about it, just record yourself talking with us and breaking into the machines, you can even set the chat feature to interact with people. This will boost your channel and get you the respect you deserve. I know that not many of your followers that jailbreaks exist today because of you, homebrew for Play station, and so on.

If anyone wants to do a custom loop I will give some recommendations since I have been running custom water cooling loops for awhile now. Soft tubing is less likely to leak than hard line. Distilled water with an added biocide like EK CryFuel Clear won't gunk up your blocks. Stay away from the fancy colored or opaque fluids. For the soft tubing go with the black ZMT because the clear stuff will leak and gunk up your loop.
@SviatoslavDamaschin

RGB is crucial for high-end hacking computers and therefore I recommend a Corsair AIO water cooler. Not only is the hardware great but the software controller is top notch. Jesus, Satan, Tom Cruise and every single extreme level top gun hacker on the planet give Corsair water coolers five stars. When you're alone in your room, sitting in the dark and the FEDS bust in, and Lord knows they will bust in because you have no idea what you're doing, you really want to look the part. So make sure you have a nice black hoodie and top quality Guy Fox mask, and all the RGB you can afford. because nothing is worse than having cops laughing at you while they're arresting you.

2:18 There should be an asterisk that, if you do not opt for water cooling, certain CPUs demand very high quality fans. For instance, Intel 12900K almost requires watercooling if you want its advertised performance without being thermal throttled, and even for water cooling, the 12900K requires bigger, quality water coolers. 8:55 There is a rumor that custom builds with upcoming next-gen GPUs/CPUs are going to demand more power than 850-1000W.
