I've cut my own hair once and awhile too. Started just doing buzz cuts years ago now have been working on my own fades. Depending on the length of hair and what you want to accomplish it can be very difficult and time consuming. The 2nd mirror is a great idea. Also the blend work is an art form that practice does makes perfect. Great videos man keep them coming.

I took some notes, as I have not had a haircut for a long time. Due to the lockdown, I will have to cut it myself. Waiting for my Wahl - 'Lithium' Power Clipper to arrive :) 00:20 position mirror on door trim 00:35 position mirror against the wall 00:48 position mirror 45⁰ from the wall 02:12 360⁰ view of the head before the fade The mirror is at 45⁰ from the wall 02:26 #1 guard level (1/8" / 3mm) halfway open, bring guideline 1/2" (13 mm), drop fade near the back of the head 03:46 #2 guard level (1/4" / 6mm) halfway open, go up 1" (25 mm) from initial guideline (in previous attempts it was 0.5" (1.3 cm)), now the fade can be stretched out 05:08 #1 guard level (1/8" / 3mm) open, start blending hard line from the initial guideline, go up 1/4" (6 mm) and flick up and away from the head 06:19 #2 guard level (1/4" / 6mm) open, take out some bulk by flicking up 1/2" (13 mm) and away from the head. Stand up straight, don't lean body a lot to remain angled perception and hand-eye coordination. The mirror is on the door trim 07:05 use thinning shears and comb, use scissor over comb technique to blend in bulkier hair with the fade-in created by the clippers. 09:09 use trimmer to get lines trimmed at edges 11:04 final 360⁰ view of the head after the fade

My man, I need this tutorial but for people who are short-sighted (wear glasses). If I take em off I can't see anything, if I keep them on I can't get my sides right. I feel like I am doing these tutorials on some "insane"-like level. You got any tips? I've seen people flip their glasses infront of their eyes, hold em like this and then cut as usual, but I don't think that this is a good solution.

What I do is, I get old glasses remove the side frames and let the front part sit on my nose bridge. If they keep falling off use tape to stick them to your forehead. Cheaper than contact lenses. Your prescription would not have changed much, plus I keep my old glasses for football so that I do not break my current ones. I am not being funny, i'm deadly serious lol. we are in crazy times I just make do! If you dont still have your old glasses you can always remove the frames from your new ones and put them back in but thats up to you, you have time.

i'm no expert but often i'll take my glasses off *only* when doing the spots immediately around the ear. not even a half inch radius or so. you have to be a little careful but it's not too hard.

I love what you're doing here, Alex! Your haircuts look great and efficient, the production quality is high, I like the music (good choice with Instinct), and your commentary is very helpful and funny. I gave the fade a shot and it looks good, but I need more practice. I'm not ready to go for the crisp lines, the fade isn't smooth, and I haven't touched the hair at the top of the head yet. I find it hard to believe that I gave this haircut to myself when I catch myself in the mirror, though; it looks good! Thanks for the videos :-D

Your Mirror Setup. I expected much better than what you show. I imagine the best way is to fasten smaller adjustable mirrors to be fixed to the wall-fitted mirror. The smaller mirrors fastened to the larger mirror using a piano hinge. See if you can do this yourself. A light above the main mirror would help. I want to do this myself, I just haven't got round to it. Two items I purchased that help enormously: 1) Neck Hairline Guide. 2) Prochive Beard Trim Catcher. From Amazon UK. Both low-cost items. Considered, worth it. Laminate a mirror with any fabulon sticky sheet. That Walmart mirror is going to drop someday. (UK)

I bought a mirror and Wahl magic clip 5. I still struggle with moving my hands according to the mirror. I know some might find this funny. But as a newbie I wanted to ask, Do you have any advices on controlling the machine easier according to what I see on the mirror? I gave myself few haircuts and took my time as you said. I find it very enjoyable and also calming that I can fix my hair alone and also look groomed on demand. Getting ur hair done even for males became so expensive where I live. After 5 haircuts u get back the worth of a new Wahl magic clip 5. Thanks for your vids, they are great.
