I know I am late to the party, but I just wanted to say - Well done! Excellent mechanical skills and very entertaining. Great foundational skills - in fact that shows mastery. I hope you have learned to bring in some musicality. If you want to know what I mean, listen to Buddy Rich's West Side Story drum solo. He actually intones the song "I Feel Pretty" on his snare drum. I saw him do it in person in the 1980s just before he passed away. He was amazing not only because of his stick control, but also because every song he played he complimented. He didnt just keep time. That is what makes a great drummer. They just dont keep time. You cant imagine that song any other way then the way they play and the song wouldnt be the same without the drums. That is Neil Peart's gift. He does it with every song. Best wishes for continued success!

Not an audio engineer, "BUT" I hope it's the poor recording that makes the timing so bad.
@PaperLanternVisuals
8 жыл бұрын
+Lawrence Kedz There's no specific meter. The timing is anything but bad.
@lawrencekedz
8 жыл бұрын
+PaperLantern Visuals I don't think it's meter that I'm talking about. Maybe it's my phone, but it's not giving me enough clarity to hear the individual hits on skin from one tap to the next. Please forgive my ignorance in theory, on which I know practically nothing about. Hence, the lack of proper terminology. Hope this explanation helps in clearing up what I'm trying to say. But I do play a little, but only by ear and self taught since I was 11. Now I'm older than I care to mention. But think I saw the last dinosaurs tail rounding the corner. Play purely for the love of music. By no means am I trying to belittle his abilities, only to hear how good he actually is. If I've been given anything in music as far as ability, it's got to be in the way I hear. I wish it were in playing or singing, but I'll take whatever I can get and be happy for it. Hey, I got too much time on my hands. Ya thimk ??? (lol) Later bud, and keep playing.
@PaperLanternVisuals
8 жыл бұрын
+Lawrence Kedz Hey man. I hope my comment didn't sound harsh. It wasn't my intention. But yeah, I could see how you would hear that. Even on my monitors it sounds sorta clipped and distorted. The on camera microphone he's using isn't the best for recording marching drums. The environment where he's recording also really contributes to how it sounds. (The Gym wasn't be best place to do it.)
@lawrencekedz
8 жыл бұрын
+PaperLantern Visuals Yeah, I totally agree. That empty gym is creating havoc with that mic. Just maybe, if he were 2 or 3 feet closer "or" even further away, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. What I got is a Galaxy s5 hooked up to a couple of monster Fischers. And as long as I power them up to about 35% and keep the phone on a 2 or 3, the sound is usually great. But hearing this recording like that on this end, does his playing no justice. That's just too bad. Real good drummers are not easy to find. Don't think I saw your comment as harsh, but definitely saw that I didn't explain my problem with this recording sufficiently. If you heard what I'm hearing on this end, I have to think you'd agree. Have a good life my friend and keep playing.
