I love this video because it lets me know that I don't have to have precise application to do my own hair. I always worry about the back but with this technique it's kind of foolproof as long as you don't bring the shadow down too low. Thanks, Elle.

Sasha Hanna Me too. On the last current hair update, she used 8nn color on roots only after bleaching them (only way for light color to show up on dark hair). And she also did highlights at the same time. Now she says she uses 6na only when highlighting. She used level 8 today And didn’t pre lighten roots. So I’m way confused as to how 10 volume can lighten a level 5 base🤫.

Two weeks for a toner is normal. All color fades and bleached hair oxidizes and goes yellow. . I have to tone mine every 3-4 weeks. Minerals in the warer, medicines, hair porosity, and many other variables affect the tone.

Thanks to videos like this I decided a week ago to bleach my hair myself I’ve gone to 3 different stylist and none haven’t been able to get me to that hair color that I wanted all they’ve done is just damage my hair so I thought to myself I just might as well do it myself and i did, I’m pretty impressed with the results I’m at a level 8 blonde one more section and I’ll have platinum blonde my hair is down to my waistline and its still in pretty good shape doesn’t look dry or damage at all I just trimmed the ends and wow nothing like a good healthy looking blonde hair.

Am I understanding this right; while my hair is processing at the roots, I can apply toner to not only the untouched hair, but ON TOP of the product that is currently processioning on my roots- is that right?
@FunkyPhish

Thank you for telling us about the toner. I have been asking stylist for 4 years about where I can get a toner and I never get an answer. I live on a sailboat and have to color my hair myself. After a few times it is flat and dull, I need a toner. One stylist just gave me a styling product that says it adds shine. Totally different than a toner which is what I asked for. I think the thing I miss the most about living in a 1st world country is my hairstylist.

One question. You used 10 developer. Now I'm not a hairstylist but I do my own roots. I also color my hair a 3n which comes out black on my hair due to the brand I use. I also always use a 20 developer because I was told that permanent hair color you use a 20 developer and a demi-permanent you use 10 developer. So are you using permanent color on your hair or a demi-permanent? Does it have to do with the fact that your using blonde shades versus dark shades? I'm confused.

20 vol developer is mainly used for gray coverage and if you want one to two levels of lift. Because I was already using a level 8 I didn't want too much lift or even less, hot roots. Which is why I opted for the 10 vol instead.

I have textured extremely thick hair, i know that sounds great, actually I'm not complaining, but seriously i have the worst tangled hair if so quickly. It is hard to do my own hair, blonde, i do anyway but I've honestly had a madien lane hair dresser or blow dryer refuse to dry my ha the owner did it! Years ago. Still, in like humidity my hair is very curly so.. It's a pain to keep to tangle free. I use argain oil i try try try. So when i do highlights inmy hair it takes forever to get it all covered. I am really trying to use foils but my hair laughs. I am going to try shades eq, i want a less breaking situation. Hard to do. Thanks.
