Came to your videos from Alex Becker, and I'm really happy that I watched your video. Very thought-provoking and informative. I'm not the type to be afraid to listen to varying viewpoints on this subject. I've been one of those people that is totally distracted without a singular Focus and you're right. This kind of advise reminds me of Zig Ziglar. Even before social media apps or on smartphones, he was talking about how all the flood of information with making us stupid as a nation and overly stimulated with TV at that point. Today with smartphones the stimuli is on steroids for our attention and your points are very valid. Rather than being distracted in our Focus it's helpful to find your Polaris star to keep you grounded and hungry. I will not forget this message anytime soon.

This has to be one of the best video's I've seen because it's so true. When I first started my business, all I did was focus on my business with very little youtube/instagram/fb time and I did very well. This year I spent a ton of time on Instagram(grew my following) and KZitem and I made many mistakes and didn't make as much money as the previous years even though I now have more experience and money. I also realized most youtube videos, even entrepreneurial ones, won't really help you. Most youtubers make their money by selling courses and not by being actually being entrepreneurs and most people that buy these courses don't really find any success in them.

Love the honesty. Value is number 1. I like the concept of the polaris star and this push pull student appreciation principle that exposes the fame industry of the online teaching business. You appreciate students enough to value their attention more than fame notification bells and buzzes. I've noticed that you're good at building a layer of thinking for the people who follow you. It's not the person who has the most views that give the best advice; it's the tinkerers. The people with the best advice and highest level of focus through . The most famous person is NEVER the person who's the best; it's a warning sign not to follow them.

Self-awareness is everything. Without understanding how you respond to certain external stimuli you always seem to glaze over these sorts of ideas. Most of society just consumes. They aren’t investing time and energy into self development and learning about human nature. This video is about how to avoid becoming apart of the mediocre masses and how to become a leader and a successful businessperson. Question everything. Test it for yourself. If you’re using social media in a way that has been detrimental to your overall success eliminate it or drastically reduce the time you’re on it. A great book on this topic is DEEP WORK by Cal Newport. Sam I resonated with this a lot, but I also have desires to grow my social media following, because I see an opportunity to gain potential clientele there, but I don’t unconsciously consume everyone’s instagram accounts. I use social media to consciously create and investigate, that’s it. Thanks for the video!

Its crazy but I'm litterally waiting for those Wednesdays' videos of yours and although I'm subscribed to a lot of channels, yours are the only ones I have this anticipation for, checking my KZitem in the morning to see, if it's already out. I think this is due to the fact that they help me sort my thoughts and ideas that become so polluted by so many business advice which often times just don't work - especially the pressure of posting everything all the time on social media. This video made me level up again mentally and I feel more confident in finding out what my true polaris star is. Thank you!

When people speak about your strange behavior, they're probably referring to your gaze, Sam.😄 One thing I've learned through reading, and watching, and listening is that most of what people tell me are mainly their own personal experience with a topic. I agree with the points Sam makes here, but realize that there are exceptions. Alex Becker has 300,000 followers on KZitem. He also has a business that generates millions per month in revenue. He also ardently requests followers to his social media. I hardly think Alex has a lifestyle where he eliminates all distractions. Yet by most measures, he can be considered successful. Casey Neistat has 10 million followers. His main product is, of course, his channel itself. But nonetheless, we can also consider him a successful businessman as well. There are billions of people engaged with social media. And in one form or another, SM will be with us probably from now on. Watching it, engaging with it, utilizing it… if you know what you're doing, you can most certainly become successful in the SM arena. My point is that there are several roads that lead to Rome. There are no written rules that state you need to be a monk in order to achieve financial success, if that's your measure of success. If you invented teleportation tomorrow, the world would want it and wouldn't care about your lifestyle. You'd likely become wealthy no matter how you live your life. The general population doesn't care about who you are and how you live. Just supply their wants and needs and you can become successful.

@Redjam And I agree with your comment, 100%. But who says those two things, genuinely helping people and becoming famous, are incongruous? The only thing stopping you from becoming both incredibly famous and incredibly useful is you figuring out a way to do it, nothing else. So you invent a device that can cure bacterial and viral infectious diseases almost instantly. The device costs $99 and can provide a lifetime of use. You decide to tour the world demonstrating the device and selling it. You go on KZitem and Instagram and mainstream TV channels follow you everywhere. You help millions of people and become world famous at the same time. That's extreme, but not unimaginable. It's just that right now, the norm for too many people is to put their effort into becoming famous only. But there's no written rule saying that you can't make both things work.
@pbase36
5 жыл бұрын
@Hossain However, Alex Becker and Casey spent hours each day on social media. It's a part of how they grew their following and subsequently their fortune. Who is to say that the time you spend today on social media may not lead you to reward in the future? Who can honestly predict that? At KZitem's start, did anyone predict that there would be users making millions here annually? Your focus should be on achieving a desired result. It's not possible for you to see the entire path that's going to get you there, we cannot predict the future. Do you even need mental discipline to get where you need to go? It's sacrilege to say that you don't. But are all the wealthy people currently alive so mentally disciplined? If 95% of the general population aren't, it would stand to reason that a significant number of wealthy people also are not as disciplined as assumed. The life that Sam has adopted is what works for HIM. But it may not work for you. Therefore you should find a path that leads to your result. A path of your own making. In all honesty, I would rather Sam just speak about his product creation, his marketing and a few more non-personal aspects of running his enterprise. The lifestyle stuff is a bit off-putting. I'd like to take his raw information and integrate it into my lifestyle, rather than adopt the severity of his own. If this severe lifestyle change is what he touts in his program, I'm unlikely to purchase. No offense to Sam.

Crystal Davis Crystal, I understand your point. However it is not possible for you to predict who is wasting their time on social media and who is not. Casey would have been told that he’s wasting his time posting videos on KZitem. Time revealed that he was not. You’re being a bit narrow in your thinking. There are too many variables for you to state with certainty, for any one person, that they are wasting their time viewing social media. What if they come across something life changing? I’ll state again: the only thing that’s important is knowing what you want. You do not need to follow someone else’s lifestyle in order to get there, you can find your own path. Even one that involves you being overly engaged with social media. Let’s say I have a special needs child that takes up 6 hours of my time, every day. Is my time wasted? From the standpoint of building a business, yes it is. So is the door to prosperity closed to me? No. I’ll have to find a way to get what I want while subtracting 6 hours daily from my available time to get it. Now replace the child with browsing the internet. Or playing video games. Or working out. Or walking outdoors. Or anything. You could apply the same solution to help bring you to the desired result. So this is a matter of opening the way you think about how to get your desired result. By the way, Becker May have adopted a few of Sam’s principles, but he’s hardly a student. Alex made his money while being deeply involved in playing video games.

Too many of the "gurus" put on a show to sell the entrepreneur dream to young kids. So his point of view is very valid. I honestly love to listen to certain podcasts and KZitem shows simply because they put me in the right mindset to get work done. It serves as background noise, if you will.
