Outstanding! Plowpoint is my favorite but always wanted a floor. Why didn’t I think of this?!?!?!? I wonder if you staked out the loops closer to the camera instead of the center ones if it would still be enough floor but more overhead. Also, just watching from here, maybe lower the roof for more protection? Well done though! Thanks!!!

Great design. Might want to consider having material underneath it to protect the tarp (footprint): I like shrink wrap window film, lightweight. You could also put a tarp, emergency blanket, etc. over the guy lines extending to the front for gear. Leave a space between the two and have a fire there, smoke escapes easy, I use container with top-down burn (less sparks).

What Meme said. I first had it staked out, then once I had the shelter setup, I unstaked it and rolled up part of it, to keep it from collecting rain. Plus rolling it up makes like a water barrier, from water flowing underneath.

Haven't seen that before! Question: Have you considered not using the diagonal of the tarp as starting point, but instead moving one attachment point forward? That should still be long enough to lie down and the excess material on either side ( towards the diagonal of the tarp ) could be used to form side walls. That way you could be enclosed on three sides!

I really like your shelter design! I get so aggravated with folks showin' me how to make all these tarp shelters that have absolutely zero or next to zero floor cover, like that's no big deal. Maybe not in fair weather, but it sure matters in a rain and it matters a whole lot in a hard rain! If you can't find a PERFECTLY flat and level site or can't pitch on a mound of earth, the damn water is gonna flow under the edge of the tarp and across the floor, which is, essentially, your darn bed. Back in the day, the BSA handbook taught us to dig a trench around our tent to channel water around and past the tent, but modern "leave no trace" practices frown on that technique. I'd still be willing to do it in an emergency, but many/most people use tarp shelters for all their camping because it's light weight and the old BSA way is hard on the land if everyone just does it for fun. Great video. BTW, that looks like it would work just fine with a polytarp if it came down to it. No extra tieouts needed down the middle.
@GrandFatherOutdoors

I'm glad you liked it. I just love tarp shelters. Even when I don't use a floor configuration, I have a ground sheet to handle water underneath. Funny you should mention the BSA and trenches. This past May, Pete (1822MC Adventures and More ) and I, did an over nighter, it poured like pee out of a boot, and we dug trenches, we had too! lol! When I first started watching folks talking about "Bushcraft", I made them mad when I told them that everything that they where doing came straight out of the BSA Hand Book, I even have the book to prove it! Took the stripes right off of their candy, I did! lol. Thanks for stopping by.

It's a very nice set up imo. My question would be could you or have you ever built a fire near it? Looks like that type of configuration could trap a lot of heat if done correctly. I'm wondering if even a small twig stove could be useful for helping keep the shelter warm . You could also use an extra tarp or even a rain poncho to create an awning for extra protection from the rain if you could configure a way to attach it to the extra guide lines you added. Tons of possibilities with this setup. Thanks for sharing.🤨🤔🤯😊

@@GrandFatherOutdoors I was concerned about the fire getting too close to the guide lines, especially near the front of the tarp tent. Seems like if you were to have a fire near it, it would have to be very contained and monitored vigilantly. Idk, have you ever prepared a fire using that configuration?

@@GrandFatherOutdoors I would appreciate that and if you're able to try it out and to make a video of it as well. I think that if it constructed properly, maybe with a fire wall/reflector it's possible that a person could use this configuration as a 4 season set up, even during extra rainy and snowy weather in sub zero temperatures. It may need just a few modifications, which would add like 5-10 more minutes to build or construct? Bfd lol. 😊I subscribed btw.
