I would put out that assuming science is always progressing and getting better is a flawed assumption that leads to the progressive liberalism we're criticising (the assumption we know better than the bible). I would put forward as the scientific process continues we increase the amount of information we have (assuming we faithfully keep and test it) like having more pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, we don't know how the pieces fit together necessarily (or if they should yet) but sometimes stuff just clicks together, but again we should ponder and test it to remain consistent with the bible.

As a Baptist and Dispensationalist believer, I found Karl Barth writings on the Trinity fascinating. I would say that General Revelation is Absolute Unchanging at All places at All time Universally, Special Revelation the Gospel of Jesus Christ can't be know by General Revelation Alone but in my view General Revelation Truth is the Springboard Guide to getting Mankind to take actions towards the Truth of Life. 1) why are we here? 2) why do we Sin/Die? 3) Grounds for Morality? 4) Justification for Universal Transcendentals? The Holy Bible the Gospel is the Answer to the General Revelation that is Revealed to ALL men

The difference between natural theology and liberal theology is that natural theology tends to be more scholastic and have a more scientific/philosophical approach to understanding God while liberal theology tends to be loosey-goosey in there thought. That is why I am completely for natural theology because this idea of having a mediator is not only for salvation but for understanding hence the logos and this idea is also prominent in other philosophy’s such as stoicism. Also your videos have been really good lately keep it up 👍.

@Redeemed Zoomer, Can you do a video dissecting theological “liberalism” a bit more? And when it strays into heresy? For example, you seem to think belief in evolution is fine (I agree), but a liberal reading of Scripture RE: homosexuality is a deal breaker (I disagree) … so I’d be curious what are the big metrics for you. For example, I think having Nestorian tendencies and not publicly affirming the ecumenical creeds is a way bigger deal than a pride flag.

Hey zoomer love you videos and your mission, but I have a quick comment. In the scriptures, Jesus is not the word of God in the same way as the scriptures. They actually have two separate words in the original Greek. Logos and Lexi. Lexi is what we would think of as "word" in the traditional sense aka like a word in a book or a spoken word. Logos, on the other hand, is completely different. It is a word steeped in the classical philosophical tradition meaning (roughly) the reason or thought behind life the universe or everything. There is no equivalent in most language. St. Jerome had trouble translating it into latin, choosing to translate it the same way we do as just word, and Martin luther tried it as well choosing the word zeitwort or "timeword" in his translation. I think that it's important for people to have a clear distinction because equating Jesus as the word of God and equating it to scripture can lead to idolatry of the Bible, as you've personally shown distaste for. That is most likely why many high churches refer to Christ as the "divine Logos" to keep this distinction. Just thought this might be helpful 👍

I also think you can literally find Christ in everything because the Bible says all things sings the glory of God. All means all. So I believe someday we may build a machine that has a radio frequency of noisy energy radiating off of LITERALLY everything saying Jesus's Christ's name in whatever language inanimate artifacts speak. Since the bible quite literally says everything sings the glory of God. I believe we could quite literally someday God willing find the frequency we can't hear where inanimate objects say Christ's name and acknowledge his divinity. Yes I'm serious not trolling. I doctrinally dogmatically mean what I say when I say all objects sing the glory of God. I'm not saying your being sinful or blasphemous if you disagree with me or anything. I just mean I literally believe every object every atom every follicle says the name of God. So I believe if that's true we just can't hear it yet until we build a machine that listens in on it's frequency. That objects literally prove God by saying his name every day.

As a final year Theology student, my first-class dissertation was on the analogia entis, a Thomist metaphysical principle Barth opposed (see Church Dogmatics vol. 1 Doctrine of the Word of God, Foreword, p. 41 if you read Bromiley's translation). "Christ or Antichrist: Can Protestants accept Pryzwara's account of analogia entis?" I argued that all Protestants (except Reformed) CAN accept. Calling natural theology "liberal theology" would be pretty misleading; you cannot read Aquinas as a mere philosopher or a mere Aristotelian rationalist, no you can only do justice by reading Aquinas as a metaphysician - although this means he was open to epistemology, that also means he tried to show how philosophy can be used to prove God's existence. Aquinas' belief in God as First Cause, as Existence Itself (Ipsum Esse Subsistens), and analogy of the artifex - do NOT make Aquinas liberal, but probably hyperrealistic. Also, as I discuss in my first chapter, analogia entis IS NOT entirely absent from Scripture because its fundamentals are present in the Prologue of John's Gospel and Romans chapter 4, and are used to describe the Father and the Son very similarly to Przywara's creaturely dialectic (of non-contradiction)...

@@thomasc9036 I would not read these verses as necessarily suggesting natural theology. Calvin nor Barth deny that we cannot come to the realization that God exists, and, in fact affirm that without a fallen state humans would be able to know God's existence from looking at nature. Calvin literally says this at the start of the Institutes. But general knowledge of existence does not equate to any other kind of further knowledge.

@@thomasc9036 Exactly, our fallen state denies us access to this. How is this incompatible with anything in the church dogmatics? To say that in our fallen state we are denied natural theology is to say that we cannot use natural theology. Even if you think there is some nuanced difference between Barth and Calvin, in effect, you are saying that they are saying the same thing.
@thomasc9036
3 ай бұрын
@@TheSuperXNova First of all, those verses ARE about the natural theology that even Calvin and most protestants interpret. Second, you keep saying "deny"... that's just not true. God is revealed through the natural revelation but made clear and complete through the special revelation. You should stop saying "deny natural theology". No Reformation Protestants ever denied it. They just declared that Special Revelation was needed to clarify and complete our understanding.
