The best thing about this video is a test to check if you have tongue tie. It's also a great tongue stretch too. Look up, arch your back and trying to swallow. If you can't, you may be tongue-tied. If you can but it's difficult, do it more often and it should get easier

Magnesium may well help the issue, but would need consistent monitoring and supplementation ideally from an early age. Cortisol also comes to mind as to may not helping as epigenetically the vibration of ‘diss ease’ of modern living has many profound knock on affects on babies and the young in general as they develop. Well done both of you in the work that you do. You are making a difference and are helping my understanding of my own situation and my kids. 🙏🏻 Peace friends.

I was today years old when I found out that my: -neck pain and shoulders pain -random headaches and vertigo -allergies and athsma -teeth clenching and a strong jaw pain -awful tongue positioning (always out of its cavity) -bad back resting position -difficulty speaking at a higher speed and stumbling when speaking unconsciously (but no pronunciation issues) -snoring and hard breathing, specially when sleeping (when I'm not conscious of it) .... were all due to ✨ankyloglossia✨ and it wasn't assessed when I was an infant because I could pronounce every letter of the Spanish alphabet correctly 🤡

I know someone with a tongue thrust during swallow and is an open mouth breather. He seems to “smack” the roof of his mouth when he chews (chews with mouth open). Why is this? And what can be done about it?

Myofunctional Therapist here: sounds like your friend has oral muscle dysfunction (muscles in the mouth that are functioning the wrong way). Many people who have a tied tongue become mouth breathers. Find a myofunctional therapist near you to have an assessment. Whether or not there is a tongue tie, that is decided on many factors not just by looking at it.

Upper or lower lip ties have different consequences. A lower lip tie may impact the tissue around the lower incisor teeth. An upper lip tie often causes a space between the upper central incisors (two front teeth) which a) needs to be removed/modified if it interferes with breastfeeding, b) should be removed in children at about age 8-9 so that the eruption of the upper cuspids later on pushes all the front teeth together, closing all the spaces or c) during ortho treatment - the central incisors are held together, the surgery is performed and the teeth are held together until healing is complete, about 7-10 days.
