Gutted for ya mate. I don't know whether you have them already but if not get the aftermarket locks and plates fitted to your rear van doors. Mine cost a grand to get fitted but it's an awesome deterrent. I also racked my swb van using friction fitted sliding drawers, one big one from the side and two from the rear. I made mine with ply, no drawer mechanisms. My side one is full of my hand power tools and routers. Quite a bit fits in there. The rear ones take most of the other regularly used bits. Obviously, over the drawers you put a sheet of ply to make a usable floor. Plenty of space. My theory for this being better is that with the locks and plates, my van is really only vulnerable to someone peeling the door down, if this was done they still wouldn't be able to get into the drawers to get to the valuable stuff. Other than that, get an alarm, it's all about minimising the time they get to do their thing and making your van a less desirable target than others around you. I've had it happen to me three times over the years, all three times while I was at work during the day, not at night parked up. Parking streets away from the job due to restrictions still gives me anxiety today, sometimes I prefer to take the ticket depending on the area.

Really sorry it had to happen to you mate! Be patient in these hard times. It's so common now adays, because the punishment they receive its not severe enough. We need to go back to the golden days where they'd think twice about stealing anything. Look at the countries in the Middle East , not such a high crime rate. Best advice I can give you is get as many locks fitted as you can. My next door builder I think has 3 on his van.
@brad15020
9 ай бұрын
@@sahaahmed8064 issue with deadlocks is they will still get inside. So you’d then have to buy all new tools and then doors, or get the doors done on insurance and hike your prices up next year. It’s a lose lose situation. Best ways round it is either unload all your tools at night & leave the back doors unlocked, or fit an internal security cage. Won’t get through the cage without grinders and cutters thus making a lot more noise & making the scum’s lives more difficult. They’d more than likely open the doors, see the cage and think fuck that then move to the next one

Was the new door an external one? It had no edge lipping and the 2-3mm ply facing was exposed. There is no water bar or seal on the cill, there is no weather bar on the door to deflect the rain which will run down the door. Daylight can be seen under bottom edge. Bottom edge Must be primed as the painter certainly won't do it. No hate here, just a few basic skills especially as you are charging £90 per hour

Thats a dirty trick that, im a chippy myself so i know what a kick in the nuts this is, replacing the power tools is easy its the bits and pieces that you accumulate over the years thats hard to replace. Im afraid to say but them tools will be long gone they'll not be stupid enough to sell them on your doorstep. Be super careful, they know that you are now about to replace everything so they'll lie low for a while but they'll be back knowing this, cant have anything anymore always some fucker wants to screw you over.
