Great choices! Willow, Neverending Story and Princess Bride are classics. I would include Big Trouble In Little China and Secret of NIMH as well. All movies I loved as a kid growing up in the 80's.

Great list, I got to see several of these in the theater myself. I believe The Secret of the Sword had some extra scenes in the TV version, like the "flying ship/frying ship" gag, but I haven't watched them since I was a kid

No way! I'm literally reading the Black Cauldron book right now with my ten year old. We are excited to watch the movie after we finish the book. Sidenote: I think the artist you are thinking of is Frank Frazetta who did all that awesome fantasy art. Great stuff as always, Perry!

When Perry says, lets go to the rug, you already know its going to be good. I love you choices in films. Ive never heard of number 10 so i'll have to check it out. I was hoping for 3 movies in this list for fantasy movies. Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and never-ending story. When willow, which is an amazing movie was 2 I was gettin nervous but im glad you added the 3 best of all time. One i just thought of you could have included was a childhood fav of mine, Return to Oz. That movie gave me nightmares as a kid but I loved it and still do to this day.

Neverending Story is great, but Willow is my #1. Love the Rankin Bass Hobbit as well. Watched it a ton as a kid. Not sure if you'd consider it fantasy, but another classic from youth I remember fondly is "The Boy Who Could Fly."

Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, and Willow are some of my favourite movies, and of course, I had all of those Disney clamshells when I was a kid. Or my parents rented them for me. Funny story about Robin Hood though. So they used to play that exact VHS edition in the waiting room of the Cardiology clinic at the local children's hospital that I went to when I was a kid, but I never saw the whole movie because at the halfway point, when Robin is about to be executed at the archery tournament, they'd call me in for a test and then to see the doctor. So it wasn't until I got the movie on Blu-ray in either 2013 or 2014 that I finally saw the whole movie. Then, a few years ago, at the height of the pandemic, I got that VHS edition in a box of VHS that a friend gave me, and as soon as dinner was over that night, I sat down and finally got to watch the whole movie on VHS.

@@TheCassettePhase When I started collecting VHS back in 2019, getting that VHS edition of Robin Hood was one of my goals, and it happened within two years of me starting my collection. Which is cool because there are tapes on my list that I have yet to find.

Can't watch Willow series on Disney+ anymore. You can only watch the movie. Disney memory holed it to write it off on taxes since it flopped so bad..
