It shows you have experience, and are a pro. As the most important tip in your video is “slow down” Rightfully, a slow steady feed technique on almost any saw will make much finer cuts. You can do finish work on a standard, half dull blade, even with tooth count that nears rip blade territory. I’m not a “blade swapper” unless highly acquired, I just change pace.

I have a oshlun combo blade on my table saw that I just love them. I have one that has no paint left on it I have used it so much the last 7 years or so. I sharpened it once otherwise I just clean the tar shit off every so often with simple green and a tooth brush. I like they are a thinner kerf but not so thin they want to wave. For sure the most bang for the buck. I do have a couple professional frued they are supper nice I have a cross cut and a rip. But my saw is a bit under powered and the thinner oshlun seams to do best. Most 95% everything I do I use the combo blade too. It leaves a flat bottom cut and does great ripping and cross cutting. Now I am not a professional trim carpenter but I did grow up in a cabinet shop as a kid.

I find the Diablo blades half decent if you take care of them. All our saws are community used so we can’t have nice things lol. The other crew at my work cut all kinds of crap on the shop saws so I have taken to keeping my own in my truck and change them out when I use them. I didn’t realize the Red Blades at Home Depot aren’t Freud anymore until you pointed that out.

I seem to commenting a lot on your vids lol! I just did a search on Freud vs Diablo and supposedly they are both of equal quality, the difference being the Freud has more carbide to facilitate resharpening, as well as grinds more suitable to production and industrial use. This is all off of old forum posts so you know that info is 100% correct cause the internets is never wrong ;).

I bought that 60 tooth Freud Industrial as a backup for my Performax Ceramic. Other then not lasting quite as long between sharpening as the Ceramic, it cuts so well I’m not sure I would have bought the ceramic if I had tried it first. That said, it’s really sad how many people don’t get there blades sharpened for $20 before buying new. Just giving them a quick oven cleaner bath once in a while (or often when cutting MFT) makes them last a long time.

Thanks for sharing the important difference between higher and lower grade Freud blades. What are your thoughts on cutting non-ferrous metals like aluminum on a miter saw? It's not something I intend on doing frequently, but I'm not sure what blades are recommend. Higher tooth count is probably cleaner and safer.

It's quite possible you got a bum festool blade from the factory. It happens. We got a couple of TS55 blades that burned and scored out of the package. Of course FT service said our saw wasn't set up right, the rails weren't aligned. and then we were pushing it wrong. Only when I brought the blades to them to use on their saws and said "show me" did they start back pedaling after they got the same results.

Makita blades are the ones my money go for . I've never tried the Freud ones, but I did bought diablo, super disappointed. Milwakee and dewalt should not make blades anymore . Trend are OK, but they put a bit to much pressure on the machine, same goes for Hitachi . Have you tried the Freud LU79R010 or the LU96R010? Both are 80T, the first has the HiATB grind (same as the premier fusion p410 that I have in the table saw and cuts really clean) and a hook angle of 2º and is supposedly excellent for crosscutting, plywood and laminates. The later has TCG profile and negative hook of -3º, which supposedly would endure longer without sharpening. Would love to hear your input, since these 2 and the 60T that you recommend are the ones I'm looking after for my sliding miter saw. Great video BTW!

Festool’s 60 tooth blade will throw stuff at you if you raise it while it’s still spinning. It will also leave small chips if you do it. Wait for it to stop completely after the cut and you won’t see any chips or flying wood pieces. Festool asked Leitz (the blade maker) to come up with a special tooth geometry that reduces blade noise and makes it sound less whiny, I think the side effect of that is the requirement to wait until the blade stops in order to produce a quality cut. Thank you for this video, I will definitely look into the Freud industrial blade as waiting after each cut can significantly slow things down for any trim project. I don’t mind waiting when working on a high-end furniture piece, but not when I’m installing paint-grade trim.
@TheFunnyCarpenter
