Another great video, Josh. An excellent quick-view of the jewels of our continent. Ranking them is impossible, as so much of it is dependent on time of year, wildlife encounters, weather, and so forth. And I find that return visits to the parks really elevate some way up the list (Glacier, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Utah parks), while dropping others down the list after the amazing first impression. Nevertheless, the 56 I've been blessed to see have ALL been worth the effort! It will be interesting to see your ranking video now, and then maybe challenge you to make another one in a decade or two after you've visited some of them multiple times, just for comparison. Happy continued travels!!

Did you reveal your favorite so far? My favorite NP experiences include walking the open beaches of Point Reyes, riding horses in Yellowstone, and staying in the historic Old Faithful Inn and watching Old Faithful Geyser by moonlight from the Inn’s balcony. Good luck with the rest of your journey and thank you for taking us along with you.

Josh, this is a really terrific compilation. But I'm not sure how you'll be able to rank them. Since, as you showed and even admitted today, each park has unique and incomparable features, it would be like trying to rank your children by how much you love them. Can't wait for the sequel to begin, now knowing the long-term objective.

There are lots of decision making processes out there. AHP is a good one if you want to be super thorough. Really, though, you can come up with a list of all major traits (that would apply to everyone, so not something like distance from you, for example) and score them. Then just throw them up on Tier Maker. We are going to disagree and argue, but that's the fun of it. :)

Great compilation. Over the years I visited many of the parks you've mentioned on trips from the Netherlands and while I enjoyed most of my park experiences, the last time I visited Yosemite Valley I vowed I would never ever return there. Eventhough the valley is stunning, at the time I was there there were roadworks going on, so many busses everywhere and was it just so crowded, I couldn't enjoy myself. I did really like the much less crowded section of the park higher in the mountains like Olmsted Point and Tenaya Lake.

Bryce will always be my #1. That first time you step to the end and look down, it takes your breath away. Walking up from the bottom will also do that too. Still kicking myself for not going to Dry Tortugas when we visited Florida, and somehow can't justify another trip just for it when there are other places I wanted to go. Now the real question is where is Olympic NP on your list? Perhaps the most diverse and oddly has everything national park? Great road, fantastic ridge, lake, superb beach, magnificent view, epic rainforest, and exceptional lake side lodging. Love your videos, if there is one thing I would love to see more of in your videos are more about the historic lodges in the national park system, love staying in them, and they are always one of the highlights of our park visits.

Great summary! I have the same top two. However, we live closest to the Smoky Mountains so that is my number three. I have spent a lot of time there and it is truly special. If you ever go back during the summer, try Cades Cove on a Wednesday. They close the road to vehicles, but you can bike or hike the loop. It’s much more enjoyable that way!!

Josh, this was a really nice summary of the parks that you've been to. I've been to a similar number. When you visit Wind Cave NP and Badlands NP make sure to include Custer SP, which is worthy of NP status itself. (You'll spend more time at CSP than either NP.) Also, when you revisit Kenai Fjords NP and take that boat tour, make sure that you go on one of the longer 6.5 hour tours that go out to Aalik Glacier, and not one of the 3 hour "bay tours". You see FAR MORE on the longer tour. Lehman Caves at Great Basin is interesting, but everything pales in comparison to Carlsbad Caverns, so don't expect it to be like that.
