I second everything you said about Yinsh, Tak and Hive, and the other games seem really cool, so thanks for the recommendations. However, in my opinion there is one glaring absence in this otherwise great list: Homeworlds. Homeworlds is the most intricate, original, exciting and rewarding game of any genre I have ever played. It's an abstract perfect-information game, yet it feels so epic.

Hive is insanely fun, I've never heard of Tak or Yinsh but I'm gonna have to try them, they seem amazing. However I'd say the absolute king of abstract games is Go.

Wow, I really like your taste in games! I have rarely heard any American boardgame KZitemrs talk about abstracts... If you like Kamisado, you might also enjoy Katarenga and Fenix. They belong to the same "series" of chess variants published by Huch. Personally I like all three of them 😊

the nice things is the rules are usually so low overhead that you can get a glimpse pretty quickly on whether you like the kind of strategy/tactics that go into it and whether or not they're you're style.

I love abstract games. Two of my favorites are Santorini and Hive. Need to play Tak, wish I had a way to play it online. Own Yinsh and Tzaar (unplayed). Been interested in Kamisado too.

I like the idea of Santorini. However, the actuality I don't love it as much as I thought I would. That's why I'm looking at getting Ragnarocks to sorta replace it.

@ I felt similar with Hive. It went from, this game is fantastic to oh white attacks and black defends.. okay. Then I started playing people on Board Game Arena with 5,000+ logged plays. I watched the patterns they used and realized how much more depth there was. It's planted as my 2nd favorite. Maybe you just need to play a Santorini expert like I needed for Hive. For me, Santorini leads by a mile as my favorite abstract. I don't have 5k plays but I do have 200+ and I'm excited for 200 more.

Love hive but no one else seems to that I game with. Also its very hard to teach this to someone and then have a chance of feeling like they played well. Very easy for someone to make you feel stupid if you loose and yet you feel smart when you win.

Nice list. Hey - after you reviewed Loop, I struggled to find a copy for myself... Well, I just read the following news item: U.S. publisher Pandasaurus Games has announced that in September 2021 it will release English-language versions of two 2020 titles from French publisher Catch Up Games: the combo-driven card game Wild Space from Joachim Thôme in which you need to acquire crew to land your spaceships on different planets (game overview video here), and the combo-driven co-operative game The LOOP from Maxime Rambourg and Théo Rivière. For your next news round up... Stay classy.

Tente conhecer Masai.

Push Fight is a nice game for sure. I am also very fond of Tintas. I wish more people got to try it. I believe TZAAR is the best modern abstract strategy. Next is DVONN in the series. I think I prefer LYNGK to YINSH. Blokus Duo is in my top 5, no bonuses, two games alternate start, total surplus squares decides winner. I have had a lot of fun playing The Rose King lately online at yucata.
