That assessment of the weather here is not even close to attached to reality…it absolutely in no way “rains and is cloudy a lot here”. That’s a silly thing to tell people about Denver/Colorado.

I thought the same. It is like she never even tried RTD. It is actually quite good. Between the bus and trains, you really can get just about anywhere (but certainly not everywhere) without too much trouble. I live in Northglenn, and office is in Centennial (literally from one end of town to the other). I can walk to my train, transfer 1 time downtown to another train, and then walk to the office. It does take a while, but I'm also travelling a long distance. The cost is roughly the cost of gas.

I’m from Miami FL. I live in cap hill, I commute to Aurora sometimes for work. There’s definitely some traffic here but it flows. For people that are complaining about traffic, I say move to a state with less job opportunities and you’ll be just fine.

Thanks man, I'm actually in Tampa, FL moving to Colorado in two weeks; to capital Hill like you! People here are at the point they can't even look at each other, with disdain. You literally look at someone in my apartment building and they take it as a threat, and I live in a 'nice' area. I was worried about being there, but seeing your comment makes me feel better. And I would agree, people complain about everything if they want. They will def have fun looking for work in Florida... (not), and at least we won't be stuck with $12 an hour in a place with 90% wooden homes comparable in price to the ones there made of bricks, and w/ constant hurricanes here and selfish assholes who don't care about actual democracy, two weeks can't come fast enough. The outdoors is just the cherry on top.

Lived in the Denver Metro area for a long time, so I've seen the changes from 1980's to 2023. Really dug Denver, until the boom. Real estate went sky high, with tons of gentrification and more people. Denver lost its big city/western city vibe. Crime, graffiti, and homelessness increased exponentially. We had regular break-ins of our car (broken windows) when parked in an open space out in Wheat Ridge. Sad to see. Never used to happen. Moved away back in late 2019 to Tucson. Miss the restaurants, and bigger city vibe (sometimes), can't beat the weather for most of the year, very pretty place. Dig the SW though and I can get out pretty much every single day in nature down in AZ. No snow, no shoveling, and warmer temps in the winter. Guess it depends on where you are in life. Denver will always hold a special place with us and we'll visit often.

Also in Golden on west Colfax is a great Sportsbar Wrigley s Field reasonably priced food and karaoke for fun...on summer weekends live bands...in the parking lot go up the hill to Tin Cup Hogback Park for a soccer field etc and to the right going South is The Stegosaurus Hiking Trail with great views of the foothills . WRIGLEY S is 18200 W Colfax...if you come from downtown to Golden Courthouse on the lightrail, go towards the lightrail parking garage then go South across 6th Avenue. There is a bike trail to take you to Colfax.. Turn to the right which is west and maybe a mile on the South West is Wrigley's!!! If you come in summer or Fall and are a Green Bay fan...the only place to watch a Packer s Game is in the restrooms unless they are playing Chicago that week...lol

I live in Denver. Denver is *way* overbuilding apartment complexes. I mean, like you would not believe. Denver infrastructure is already inadequate. During our frequent drought years, we already have water restrictions. Our traffic is already horrible beyond belief. It is going to get *much* worse. Crime is sky-rocketing. The police budget has just been cut by $8 million so they can afford to keep flooding the city migrants.
@billyoung8118
3 ай бұрын
I agree about the overbuilding. There will come a point in time where there are TONS more apartments than residents. We were short on apartments so a few investors decided to build. Now everywhere you look a new building is springing up. And it seems they are all really expensive ones. Glad I bought a house decades ago.

I loathed Denver! It was impossible to find a good manicure, good vet, good hair colorist, stylist, doctors, etc. terrible shopping! Cherry Creek is nice, but doesn’t make for an entire city. Thank goodness for internet! The snow removal system being to let it melt bc sun will be out tomorrow was awful! I’m shocked you love it after Phoenix. I would think real estate in Phoenix is much stronger. Boulder is def prettier and I will never understand living in Denver for the Mountains 2 plus hours away. Sooooo odd!

Also for those coming and getting an apt, strongly suggest getting a room mate. You get a lot more space for a lower price - the 1BRs are expensive for the square footage (I think this is the case in most places in the country but just wanted to point it out)

But there is other options like taking a greyhound or even RTD offers a bus that would take you from Denver to Colorado Springs .

I'm late to this party but we have very extreme temperature changes. Coldest is around -10F in winter, highest is around 110F in the hottest summer. That's a 120-degree swing from min to max. That difference is really hard on roads. Not even Phoenix has that much of a swing. Their avg cold in Phoenix is around 36F, and average high is 122F (that's an 86-degree swing). We also have super low humidity. We will go months without rain. Nicole saying it rains a lot is simply not true. Denver is a very dry town.
