McMurtry is a favorite of mine too. Also, Steinbeck, Dostoyevsky, Dennis Lehane, Elmore Leonard, John Irving and Stephen King. Follit can write great stories and King can create fantastic characters and out of the world stories. He is my comfort read author. Folks that say they don't like King claiming he can't write, read comic books and graphic novels so there ya go. I lived in Ohio for my first 24 years. It is a beautiful place. I will always be a Buckeye. :)

😊 wonderful list Jo. I just bought The World According to Garp. Hopefully I’ll get to it soon. Too funny about the comic books. McMurtry ❤️

Great selection. I think nostalgia plays a large part in my love of Stephen King, he was probably one of the first adult writers that I read. I've only read a few Sookie Stackhouse so far, but I loved them, pure escapism 😊

Thank you James! I think people who don’t like him forget that he gave us Misery, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and Firestarter. His older works feel much more real than his newer works. And yes, Fire and Ice 😆

I've read several books by Jodi Picoult. I just recently read Leaving Time and currently reading Mad Honey. Her story lines can be heavy sometimes, but I always come away learning quite a bit. I would like to read Les Miserables, but I haven't found a copy that had printing I can read. I may have to get it on Kindle or Audio. I don't know why the only book I have read by Larry McMurtry is Lonesome Dove because it's one of my all time favorites. Ken Follett is one of the authors at the top of my favorites list. I have loved everything I have read by him. I saw an interview of him and it was so good. His books have always been an easy read no matter how big they were. Books from George R.R. Martin I've also enjoyed. Stephen King is also at the top of my author list. I've been reading him for many, many years. I can't say I've loved all his books, but I do have my favorites. I also have enjoyed books from Joe Hill. I lived in Northeast Ohio most of my adult life and I miss it.

@@lavernehodge3320 I remember being surprised by the ending of Leaving Time but I haven’t read Mad Honey yet. I think my favorites are House Rules and My Sister’s Keeper. Lonesome Dove is wonderful. Thank you for your comment 😊 it sounds like we have a lot favorites in common.

I love that you love Charlene Harris, I haven't read any of her stories, but who can't love an easy read sometimes. I just finished "Violin" by Ann Rice and remember that it is one of my all time favorite books... I'm finding it hard to name favorite authors, it's easier to list off favorite books

I haven't read GRR Martin since before the Game of Thrones TV show came out, I want to try some of his science fiction. I've only read Lonesome Dove twice but another author I need to read more of. My flatmate worked for Ken Follett for years as an assistant and has never read one of his books 😂 I've only read Pillars of Earth.
