Elżbieta Ficowska was six-months-old child when she survived from the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942. She was taken out of the ghetto to the “Aryan side” in a box with a silver teaspoon engraved with her name and date of birth. Then she was brought to Mrs. Stanisława Bussold’s apartment, where she was surrounded with care and motherly love. Elżbieta learned about her rescue during the Holocaust and Jewish identity many years later. We present her account from the oral history collection of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
