Funny enough I have the same exact verizon modem and had the same issues and with unifi UCG (unifi cloud gateway) (same as UDM but smaller scale). Use the first Ethernet port on the modem and turn on IP passthrough. If I could attach a screenshot of my settings I would but it's in the advanced settings of the modem which will bypass all the modem's routing features and present you with a traditional WAN public UP straight to your UDM. Boom, solved the issue for me. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I may end up doing that. Only issue I have there is my Verizon modem is feeding 2 Routers. Mine and my neighbors network feed. So I’d have to move their service if I did that and only have it feed one router. Appreciate you looking out for me.

The video was unclear, did you actually adjust the MTU? I’m running a Verizon 5G connection as a secondary connection through pfSense and had to lower the MTU to 1428 after initial deployment because of similar stability issues. After changing it it’s been running like a champ for almost two years.

I have same issue and it's ISP specific. I have over 70+ sites running UDMPro's and UXG and loads of different ISP's. One site, DHCP issue (well known issue where gateway forgets to request WAN DHCP) and we set a static, no issues now. I have four other sites including my own that share the same ISP and 4 four have issues from time to time. Not all the time but enough to have me looking for a different ISP as I am over the crap. Whilst I know the ISP is playing games (grown too big, too quick, I also know there is an issue withe the UDM's and the platform.

Did you try a dumb switch between the modem and the UDM before you pulled the USG out of mothballs? Just curious if the switch will negotiate the links better than the UDM (and same as the USG) and eliminate your issue as well. Not sure what else the USG would be doing to fix the problem, and it's adding another NAT to the mix.

Q: When you mention triple NAT, does this mean you didn't activate Passthrough? If so, is the (DHCP) IP range in the Verizon box large enough? And is it configured outside the 192.168.x.x range? (ime, I had one UDM Pro SE doing odd things when it received a 192.168.x.x address on it's WAN side) Sorry, more questions than answers ;)
@ethernetblueprint

Thanks for commenting. I do not have passthrough on. I am using it like a router and it is handing out 192.168.0.X/24 addresses. The reason for this is because, I have it feeding 2 different routers in my network... my home/lab and my neighbors. I don't think this is issue is from the IP Scheme.
@SiI3nt
5 ай бұрын
@@ethernetblueprint Wouldn't it be easier to just VLAN off your neighbors and home/lab then get rid of the double/triple NAT so you can rule that out? The UDM PRO can hand out IP's no problem with multiple VLANs. Neighbors can have 172.168.0.X/24 and you can keep 192.168.0.X/24 or whatever.
@ethernetblueprint
5 ай бұрын
That is a good way of doing this... I have everything VLAN'd out in my networks... I used to have it that way, but with my home network being my lab, I was forced to either take everyone down as part of a reboot/rebuild or I would have to do my changes in the middle of the night when everyone was sleeping. Being that I don't currently have any FW rules from the outside world that have to navigate through all the different routers, and I like sleep a whole bunch, this was the lesser of the two evils for me. I hope to get back to just double NAT and can remove the USG Pro from the mix again soon.

My initial guess is yes. I assume that you want to use them in a mesh fashion and not have them physically connected. To work you’d need to put them AP mode and not be in router mode. The unknown is whether or not they can be meshed while in AP mode. You may want to look into that. If it does work, you won’t be able to do any VLANs or special networking with them though.
