Sometimes people are a little sad and need something to comfort them. I didn't communicate well with my Mom, but I learned something from her that keeps saving my life. A lot of it had to do with the Bee Gees.
My Dad had a record player and I believe at the time, the best stereo in Livingston County. He'd blast that thing once in a while, but most of the time my Mom would play her records on it.
She has great taste in singers. A lot of the music was very sad, yet comforting at the same time. Regardless, every song she ever played was beautiful. Well, except Neil Sedaka. Forget that guy.
Way before the movie Wayne's World caused a resurgence in the song's popularity, my Mother did something that not too many people can say they were fortunate enough to experience. Every now and then, she'd play Bohemian Rhapsody.
She had the album it came out on. A Night at the Opera. This was back in the day, you know. Most of the music she listened to was kind of soft, but she'd put that song on and absolutely crank it. I mean crank it.
We don't agree on a whole lot, but what we do agree on, we agree on. Thanks, Mom. Happy Birthday.
