Batik Painting
What will you receive in the DIY materials set?
1. One paint brush
2. One paper frame
3. One batik pre-waxed with pattern
4. One set of primary batik dyes in yellow, red , & blue (3 bottles)
5. One sheet of batik certificate
6. One concept card: “ what is Batik”
7. One myBatik sticker
8. One clear plastic cover
9. One colour palette
What you need to prepare:
1. One hair dryer
2. One empty bottle for water container ( purpose to clean brush )
3. Some clean tap water at room temperature.
How to prepare Batik Dyes:
1. You receive Batik Dyes yellow , red & blue in bottles, all in liquid form
2. Write down all the primary colours & secondary colours on the cardboard.
3. Mix accordingly.
4. Mix the 3 primary colours , yellow , red & blue to get brown
5. Test the dye on the cardboard
6. Add more water for a lighter effect or wet the cotton area before begin to colour.
7. Preferably to fill up with colours on the whole painting.
8. clean the brush each time before changing colour
How to dry your painting:
1. Dry with the hair dryer or leave it to dry under the fan
How to frame up and display:
1. Remove the batik painting from the cardboard and prepare to frame it up.
2. Remove double sided tape on the paper frame.
3. Insert the finish piece in the centre of the paper frame.
4. Write in the artist name and date on the batik certificate using brush with batik dye.
5. Use the same brush to add the artist signature on the painting.
6. Insert the batik painting in the plastic cover provided.
7. Insert the batik certificate at the back of the painting.
8. Insert the concept card “ what is Batik”.
9. Put on the MyBatik sticker and seal it
10. Congratulations! Your painting is ready for display.
