I remember using a lathe at school, turned out my class was the last to be given metalwork lessons & the year after the Lathes were all sold off...shame really.
Since then I have always enjoyed using one & when I came across this old Myford at a bargain price I just couldn't resist. I have had my own lathe, a Boxford with a longer bed & larger chuck than this one, which has been super useful over the years.
Now I don't need two lathes, that would be greedy, no, this one I'll be giving to my Son Ben for Christmas (originally Birthday but, well, I missed that by a long shot!), so fingers crossed, Christmas. Though with such slow parts supply around the World I can't be sure which Christmas!
In this video we work out what model of lathe it is, when it was made & where spare parts can be sourced. We then grab some tools & make a start stripping this little lathe down & find all sorts of hidden surprises!
Enjoy
Andy
