Had the pleasure of meeting Mylene Farmer in the UK; she has a very fluent - almost American - accent when speaking English (in person). She seems shy in interviews but was very very friendly. She was humbly surprised I knew of her music.

@@paulfawcett2288 it was a chance encounter. But in interviews and in music, she rarely speaks in English - so I was surprised when she had a full conversation without needing to pause and process what I was saying. She was friendly - thanked me for listening to her songs, and was asking me questions about Australian insects and snakes - haha!

Very cool! And not very surprising. She lived in LA for a year, often visits NYC, and works with lots of American and British musicians and dancers.

Hei. You’re absolutely right. The song is about the power of words. How they can hurt, how they can help… she sings «and for all the words which hurt, there are those which caress us». Keep watching Mylene’s video. She is wonderful. Take care !

Hello, nice couple. Thanks to react to one of my recommandation. It is the first time you see her on video, and I love your reaction! Indeed, this song is about the power of Words ("Les mots" means words). Mylene Farmer wrote this song and she said that some words can hurt whereas others make you feel good and powerful! I do not know your taste in terms of music, but I can recommend you "C'est une belle journée" Live 2013 Timeless (this live version is awesome). See you soon!

About Mylène (Mee-len) - she was born in Canada while her dad was working on a major construction project near Montreal and moved to France with her family while she was in grade school. She attended Catholic schools from K until 12 and then left to attend theater school in Paris. She chose "Farmer" as her stage name to honor American actress Francis Farmer. Sources of her lyrical and visual inspirations include E.A. Poe and Emily Dickinson. Lots of religious symbolism in her videos and concerts. You see that in this clip without even realizing it at first - Seal's pose towards the end when he stretches out his arms like Jesus on the Cross - Mylène does the same thing at the end of another song ("Point de Suture") during the 2009 concerts. Also, the mast of the raft resembles a crucifix covered with a shroud. This imagery also occurs in "Point de Suture" as well as videos "F*** Them All", "Rayon Vert", and the "XXL" clip.

Lyrics Les Mots (Words) - Hope you enjoy, not all mylène (mee-len) is easily accessible to everyone but she is the most incredible artist I've known, imo, and her words often mean a lot. Thank you. Fixement, le ciel se tord Fixedly, the sky twists Quand la bouche engendre un mort When the mouth generates a death Là je donnerai ma vie pour t'entendre There I will give my life to hear you Te dire les mots les plus tendres Tell you the most tender words When all becomes all alone I'll break my life for a song And to lives that stoop to notice mine I know I will say goodbye But a fraction of this life I would give anything, anytime L'univers a ses mystères The universe has its mysteries Les mots sont nos vies Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel Si nos vies sont si fragiles If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Les mots des sentiments Words of sentiments Les mots d'amour, un temple Words of love, a temple If one swept the world away One could touch the universe I will tell you how the sun rose, how We could with a word become one Et pour tous ces mots qui blessent And for all these words that hurt Il y a ceux qui nous caressent There are those who caress us Qui illuminent, qui touchent l'infini Who illuminate, who touch infinity Même si le néant exists Even if nothingness exists For a fraction of this life, we Will give anything, anytime L'univers a ses mystères The universe has its mysteries Les mots sont nos vies Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel Si nos vies sont si fragiles If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Les mots des sentiments Words of sentiments Les mots d'amour, un temple Words of love, a temple Les mots (2001) Paroles : Mylène Farmer Musique : Laurent outonnat

Y'all should try The Warning - 3 young sisters who play rock like it's the 1970s or '80s, with some songs adding in grunge, punk, metal, or other genres. Try the music videos for 'Disciple' and 'Evolve' or the live 'Animosity' from the Teatro Metropolitan show.
