This needs more exposure. Just yesterday I was trying to identify a hemlock it took well over an hour! This was easy to understand and would be a great thing to have on the hike.

Spruce like a bottle brush. Finally someone explains it easily. Thank you!

Overlapping "shingles on a roof" indicative of a cedar. Thanks for the info. Now, we have a tough decision to make, to cut it down or not or prune if possible, since its growing very close to our house.

Many thanks for this clear explanation. I have been trying to clearly see the differences in conifers for years, but always had difficulty and was never really convinced by my identification. Your explanation was very informative and I was able to identify your samples before you confirmed them. Convinced me that I am on the right track. Thanks, - a great help!

Hey I found that really useful. A lot of pines and firs and spruce near me and I always get a little confused. Cheers for the clarification. ATB Mark.

Yes true, it's actually Cypress family not cedar family. And then how do you tell 30 different subspecies of each. It's mind boggling :)
