Four spinning tops made of clear acrylic become the peculiar music interface that Canadian artist Myriam Bleau uses to shape this light and sound experience. Each spinning top, built by the artist, is associated with a music instrument, then a sensor captures motion and collected data is used to create sound algorithms. The behaviour of the objects adds unpredictability and makes each performance unique. LEDs placed inside the tops illuminate the objects and produce a magic play of lights. ‘Soft Revolvers’ received an honorary mention for the Prix Ars Electronica 2015.
