Fair comments, Still, I loved the game and considered it a worthy sequel to the Myst series. Video audio needs tweaking, and it is obvious at times that you are reading from a script. But as I said before, fair comments and over al a good review. (^_^)

Finally someone who agrees with me! I dont know about you, but to me the only good mystgame was "MYST" and it is the best game ever made. All the other games are complete rubbish...

For me plot ain't so bad, both brothers went crazy, and antagonist just want ultimate power of creation and destroying. Isn't that what he want from the beginning (Myst I)?

Sirrus's actor still did better voicework than this lore ending review.

I have recently completed all 4 games. I started from Riven though. Then played Exile, then I played Myst and then Myst 4. Now, While I loved the production values of 4, I hated the sluggishness of the scene transitions or hand animations. But what I hated the most were the tedious puzzles. My god, last 3 puzzles were like absolute fiddly busy work! For me Myst and Riven are the best of the games, then Exile comes very close (why did the Pinball age needed to be designed the way it was! :(). I only wish the logic puzzles were a bit less and the ending was not rushed, Exile felt pretty great to me.

I did not like this game at all...have to agree about the puzzles being maddingly difficult, especially the ones you hint at in the review! Once I got to Serenia is when the game went off the rails for me...I felt like I was playing a Beyond Atlantis game. I got so tired of the puzzles in Serenia that I just went to a walkthrough to finish.

@poparena Late reply, I know, but I have a theory about the brothers. Achenar's prison age was inhabited by wildlife, which, after bonding with the animals, might have given him more of a sense that what he was doing was wrong, thus giving him a little bit of sanity. Sirrus, on the other hand, was completely alone in his prison, which coaxed him into deep hatred for his family, giving him the desire for revenge. As for the Seth Green part, I'm not sure where to go with that. ^ ^;

thanks, good review of myst IV. I finished the 'tropical' age, but I can't get past some gnarly puzzle in the other prison age... x(
